Expats race to raise a smile for children’s home By Jan Gamm JAVEA will be stormed by eager fundraisers on Sunday April 12 when the charity Raise a Smile takes to the streets. Hundreds of people in fancy dress will set out to complete a three-kilometre run, walk – or in some cases crawl – to raise cash for the EMAUS home in Relleu.
Tony and Lucy Grande of Raise a Smile (pictured with special guest Mark Stacey) and organiser Sue Nutbrown have gone all out with an ambitious target of €20,000 for a special project to benefit youngsters in the home. “We are determined to raise enough cash to set the home up as a self-
sufficient organisation,” said Sue. “They are already keeping 120 chickens, growing vegetables and harvesting olives to make their own olive oil. With a large cash injection they can do even more and we intend to see they get the help they so badly need.” The town is standing Turn to Page 11
