Torrevieja fire A FIRE which originated in the basement of a building in Torrevieja, has left a total of eight people, including two children, suffering from smoke inhalation. A man also sustained burns to his face and was taken to Alicante General Hospital.

Give a dog a home By Gemma Quinn THE expatriate community is being called upon to help build kennels for a dogs’ home after the charity was evicted to make way for a golf course. One of the longest running animal charities in the Vega Baja area, SAT Animal Rescue, is building a new facility in San Isidro. SAT President Dave Moor is appealing to local residents, businesses and corporate investors to help fund the build, after a long and difficult struggle to get all the necessary licences in place. A major fudraising drive is under way to secure the future of hundreds of dogs in the Vega Baja. “We are wanting to have around €50,000 before we can start the

actual building of the kennels and have raised €11,000 so far,” he explained. To date the charity has re-homed more than 7,400 dogs and its general running costs are
