Aguilon AGM

THE Aguilon Golf Members held their annual AGM presentation whereby Derrick Stephenson won golfer of the year with an average score of 37 points in his best 10 rounds. Dave Simpson was named winner of the summer eclectic competition with a record of 62 points. The society also played an Individual Stableford competition this month, in which first place went to Jim Barclays (36), followed by Dave Simpson (33) in second and Glyn Ombler (33) in third place. Twos were scored by Dave Simpson, David Street, Norman Whibley, Caroline Willingham, Ian Jenner, Colm O’Keeffe and Glyn Ombler. The Aguilon Golf Members welcome guests and visitors to join them in playing on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday. Call 634 641 199.

The 19th Hole in Mojacar A TOTAL of 15 players took part in the 19th Hole Golf Society’s men’s single stableford competition at The Marina Golf Course in Mojacar. Alan Chippendale won the first place title with 34 points, followed by Terry Caddick (33) in second, and Nigel Greenwood (33) in third place. The nearest the pins went to Ian Postle and Dave Denyer. The 19th Hole Golf Society would like to thank members for their support. They arrange weekly games at various courses in the area, and play fortnightly at their home course of Aguilon. Boxers golf day THE Boxers Golf Society held their Society Day at Alboran Golf Club last month, with more than 30 golfers taking part. Roy Bishop was the winner of Division 1 with 42 points, with Dave Frances (35) in second and Roy Lewis (35) in third place. Division 2 was won by Lee Smith (39), followed by Lee Hunter (39), with Richard Measures (31) in third. And the title for winner of Division 3 went to John Kinch (36), closely followed by Martin Allan (36) with Bruce Lamar (32) in third. The Nearest the Pins went to Mike Doyle, Tony Harwin and Dave France.

Marina Phoenix Golf Society THE Marina Phoenix Golf Society held it’s Club Championship over two days. The competition adopted a strokeplay format with prizes for best gross and best handicap net, in each division. The outcome was a win for Brian Mayhew who scored the best gross in the Men’s Division and Jim Budd best handicap net. The Ladies’ Division winner was Isobel Jones with the best gross, and Margaret Budd best handicap net. A close finish for Cortijo Grande THE El Cortijo Grande Golf Club hosted two divisions for its Wednesday competition. The winner of the First Division was Frank Button with 32 points, followed by Martin Oliver (31) in second place. The winner of the Second Division was Patricia Holt (31) and second place went to Angel Gijon (31). The Club’s Saturday competition saw a close finish between the two divisions. Greg Ward (35) took the title for the First Division, with Mike Picken (35) in second place. Mary Higgins (35) won the Second Division, followed by Janet Kay (33). Greg Ward and John Park were the ball sweep winners. The El Cortijo Grande Golf Club would like to announce that they will be playing for their Green Jacket on November 12 and 13 at Alboran Golf, visitors and guests welcome.

Badgers Golf visit Playa Macenas THE Badgers Golf Society visited Playa Macenas to play their Wednesday competition. The top scorer on the day was Julian Butterworth with 39 points, Mike Daily with (38) in second and Lynn Sefton (37) in third.

Nearest the pins went to Kevin Riley, John Smith, Dave Wright and Les Corner. The society’s Saturday competition was a Texas Scramble, won by the team of Steve Casburn, Rick Bird, Jan Page and Mike Dailey with a nett

score of 48 points. Forthcoming fixtures include; Wednesday November 13 at Valle del Este, Wednesday November 20 at Macenas and Wednesday November 27 at Desert Springs. Badgers Golf Society also plays
