Copper wire gang held to end Almeria raids A GANG of copper wire thieves has been arrested. Damage caused by the gang allegedly added up to €150,000 in some cases. The Guardia Civil brought the raids in Almeria and Murcia to an end with the arrest of five men aged 24 to 41 who are said to have later sold the valuable wire. They were held for allegedly stealing copper wiring from machinery in rural areas of Vera after breaking into five irrigation pump houses. During these raids they allegedly caused damage estimated by the owners at around €150,000. They were arrested for similar activities in Murcia last month, and are also believed to be responsible for six robberies in the Bajo Almanzora area of Almeria.
