FISH inspectors with the Junta de Andalucia have seized more than 3,700 kilograms of octopus in Fuengirola which authorities claim was illegally fished off the Costa del Sol. The Junta’s Fisheries Inspectorate said the octopus did not have the proper documents to confirm where it had being caught and to provide that it had been obtained legally. The Fuengirola haul came as part of a Malaga Province-wide operation which also saw four bluefin tuna seized from an industrial estate on the outskir ts of the provincial capital. MARBELLA has hosted its first International Tourism and Equality Forum, with the participation of a range of professionals in the sector to discuss the issue. Congress Palace was the venue for the conference, which comes shortly before the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against women on November 25. For the first time, professionals from the United Nations, Marbella University, business, tourism, hospitality, and women’s organisations met with the council to discuss and share their experiences and views. Councillor for Equality and Diversity, Isabel Cintado, said: “We consider it essential to start with the perspectives of women in industries where they make up a large percentage of the workforce, but where they tend to occupy precarious, low-level positions.”
