SERVICE of Remembr ance was held at St Geor ge’s Ang lican Church in Malaga last Sunday, to honour those lost in both wor ld wars and more recent conflicts. The service was conducted by T he Reverend Canon Paul Wignall, and afterwar ds the congregation gather ed at the militar y war graves for an Act of Remembrance. In attendance were the British Consul Char maine Arbouin, German Consul Arnulf Braun, American Consul Rober ta Aaar on, Fr ench Consul Nathalie Hadj and Canadian Consul Carlos Lamothe. Wr eaths wer e also laid by representatives of the Royal Australian Air For ce, the Royal Navy, the Eng lish Cemetery, the RAF Association, Costa del Sol Branch, the Royal British Le gion, the Royal Naval Association, and the Buffaloes. Diana Br own then r ead the poem: T he V ictor y Emblem followed by the citations of the RBL, RNA and RAFA read by Mary Le Corney, Simon Johnson and Corinne Mudie. An excerpt from the poem on the Kohima Epita ph was r ead by Gar y Benham, including the line: ‘When you go home tell them of us and say, for your tomor r ow we gave our today.’
Passenger numbers sky high ALMOST 25 million passengers between Januar y and October 2 0 1 8 we r e r e c o r d e d at Andalucian airpor ts, representing a 6.6 per cent rise on the same period last year. Andalucian airports registered nearly 2.8 million passengers and 26,700 flights during October alone. According to operator AENA, Malaga recorded the most passengers, reaching 16.7 million, 1.2 per cent more than in 2017. Moreover, the number of visitors to Spanish cities was up by 12 per cent in October compared to last year. The United Kingdom remains the most popular destination of tr avel fr om Malaga, with Germany second and France third.
