INTODUCTION This brochure results from joint participants' work on the Youth Exchange "Work In Progress...", held in Nea Aghialos, Greece 30 Septemabar -8th Octobar 2021.

Youth unemployment is a widespread problem in whole Europe. Employability requires constant updating and improvement throughout life, but the COVID-19 crisis made it more challenging for young people to get employed and reduced their opportunities.

New surroundings showed us the importance of digital literacy and adequate skills. Parallel to that, remote learning and working demand appropriate and high soft skills. Soft skills are characteristics, attitudes, and behaviors that promote performance, good relations, and interaction within work settings or other contexts.

To mitigate the negative consequences and stimulate the empowerment of young people, organizations from Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece, Romania, Poland, Spain, and Portugal gathered to exchange knowledge and working methods. As a result, organizations have built a collection of innovative tools that use different approaches and can be applied in diverse contexts for empowering youth.

GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER

rhythm Game (Afonso Afonso) Before getting started with the activities, it was important to first get to know each other. This ice breaker activity helped us become comfortable with each other.

A great way to start the a project First we created a rhythm using our feet. and added our names to it.

At the end, we associated our identity with an adjective.

PAPER MAN INTRODUCTION

Every participant makes a paper man with answers to some general questions about their lives and ambitions written in his limbs. They than present their answers, as well as one bonus question, in 1 on 1 conversations with other members of the project

A GOOD WAY TO BUILD A good way for the group to break the ice and build team is to do a team building activity. This game is about A TEAM spirit stepping on the right tiles, crossing to the other side of the

field, avoiding the mines. The main rules are: No verbal communication, time limit, respect the turn and help people with disadvantages (e.g. blindfolded). So the strategy and non-formal communication is the main goals of the game.

It wasn't easy in the beginning because everyone was trying to memorize the path by themselves and forgot to work as a team.

Everyone was trying to memorize the path by themselves and forgot to work as a team. Then, step by step we started thinking strategically and found the way to help other participants. Soon, one of us came out with a good idea and everything became much more easy.

The knowledge we gained from this game is that no one is the same but we can always find a way to communicate, even with other tools. Also, we learnt to think out of the box, understand and help the people with disabilities and overall work successfully as a team under pressure

MAIN CONCEPTS The facilitator should start by presenting Youthpass. It should be followed by giving participants brief information about the 8 key competences.

Then, divide participants into 8 groups. Each group should go to the one table where are the tasks regarding one of the 8 key competences. Give 15 minutes to the groups to fulfil their tasks. After they are done, each group should present their work to the rest and try to identify which one of the competences it is.

In the preparation phase, the applicant organization asked national teams to research the following: general unemployment rate and youth unemployment rate in their countries, gender differences, causes and reasons for youth unemployment, what are missing skills, existing programs to support youth employability.

OPINION CHECK

Try to find a vast open space where the facilitator can draw three parallel lines.

Ask participants to stand on the middle one.

Then, explain that you will read statements and ask participants to choose one of two lines (Agree or Disagree).

Start with some easy general questions to see if they understood the point (for e.x. TikTok is more popular than Instagram. The Batman is better than Superman.). Later start reading prepared statements that are connected with the project's topic.

After each question, encourage the discussion among participants. Ask participants what led them to make that decision, why they think like that, would they change their minds, etc.

Some of the statements we used were: "These days, it is much easier to find a job."

"If they didn't need money, people wouldn't work."

"My job defines my identity."

"Work is a need and condemnation."

"Work does nothing other than exhaust us, unless we dedicate ourselves to it with joy."

"Each person is born for a vocation."

"If I don't have a good job, I won't be happy."

IDENTIFYING LABOUR MARKET SKILLS

Make paper with three overlapping circles. Write at the top of each one "Work experience"; "Hobbies and interests"; "Volunteering or community projects".

The facilitator should ask participants to write things they have done and the skills or qualities developed in that activity in each circle. Explain to them that any skills or qualities that are repeated should be noted in the overlapping sections.

Later, ask participants to highlight the skills and qualities, using a marker, which they think employers look for these days.

For closure, brainstorm about the key attributes employers might look for and identify the essential skills for the 21st century.

THE FACILITATOR SHOULD DIVIDE PARTICIPANTS INTO GROUPS BASED ON THE PREVIOUSLY IDENTIFIED ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR THE LABOUR MARKET. EACH TEAM WILL CORRESPOND TO ONE TYPE OF DIGITAL OR SOFT SKILL NECESSARY IN A MODERN WORKSPACE (TIME MANAGEMENT, TEAMWORK, CREATIVE THINKING, CONFLICT RESOLUTION, DIGITAL MARKETING, SOCIAL MEDIA, ETC.). THEY WILL HAVE TO DESIGN FACTSHEETS CONTAINING ALL RELEVANT INFORMATION. TEAMS TASK IS TO GIVE A BRIEF DEFINITION, EXPLAIN WHAT THAT SKILL ENTAILS, WHY IT IS IMPORTANT, AND OFFER ADVICE ON DEVELOPING IT.

THINK OUT OF A BOX Ask participants to form small groups of three or four. To motivate participants for the task fulfilment, the facilitator should tell them they are applying for a job position.

During the selection process, the employer gives them a task to show their creativity.

Explain to the participants that the employer gives them one paper clip. They have 5 minutes to write 15 ideas on how you can use the paper clip. (Collect all papers and give them the new ones.) Now give them 10 more minutes to write 15 new ways of the usage of the paper clip.

When they are done, the facilitator should ask each group to present their work.

For closure, introduce to the participants the "Brainstorming 40 +" and Three Levels of Ideas. The first 20 ideas are the OBVIOUS ones, the next 20 are INTERESTING, and the final ones are the CREATIVE ones.

SKILLS IN PRACTICE

DIGITAL ABUSE PREVENTION VIDEO HUB

Start by discussing digital abuse in modern society. Since the topic could be too sensitive, and some participants are not willing to share their experiences openly, you can use digital tools. One of them is a Jamboard. Jamboard is a digital interactive whiteboard developed by Google. It allows the simultaneous use of multiple users. The posts are anonymous and available as soon as any participant publishes them.

Later, introduce to the participants some userfriendly video-making tools that are freely available online. For our project, we have chosen three videomaking clouds apps (lumen5.com, magisto.com, and canva.com).

Then, ask participants to make mixed-nationality groups and choose one of the identified problems.

Their task will be to make a video regarding the prevention of digital abuse. After they are all done, bring participants together and let each group presents their work

DURING THE PROJECT, PARTICIPANTS WERE DIVIDED INTO 3 GROUPS AND SET ASIDE ESSENTIAL SKILLS IN THE 21ST CENTURY AND CREATED A GAME OR ACTIVITY FOR IMPROVEMENT THAT SKILLS

COOPERATION

Team 1 wanted to present the importance of teamwork and cooperation with the group through an energizer.

The energizer involved dividing the group into two teams that were arranged in 2 rows.

The task is that without using their hands they should give a certain item to the last member in line, holding the item between their legs at the knee level. When the last member receives the item he should take it to the first member in the queue. The team that takes all the members to the beginning of the line first wins.

The goal of the second game was to encourage participants to work together and come up with creative ideas through brainstorming.

Booklets are printed materials with four or more pages, containing details about a business, event, product, promotion, etc. They are also known as catalogs or pamphlets, and are usually created to communicate a message to a wide variety of audiences.

BRAINSTORMING/ TEAMWORK

The two teams consisted of 8 people each. The objective was to figure out the rule behind the pattern the other team came up with by looking at how they arranged themselves, their body language and asking three questions.

The patterns were mainly visual placement according to eye or hair color. Each team had three attempts to guess at the other groups intention.

EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE

Aside from keeping people informed, beautifully designed booklets can also be brought home as a keepsake. These visually appealing platforms are easy to distribute as well, and can be handed out during expos and other events, making your brand truly memorable.
