“Many years ago, I read a tribute to a woman who fostered many children, many of whom grew into successful young men and women, and had a few children of her own as well. Her son was asked if he ever felt upset by the foster children competing with him for space in the house. His reply was, ‘if you have space for them in your heart, you have space for them in your home.’
That struck me. We often think of our limits as physical and practical. While these limits exist, we cannot ignore the limits in our hearts — our willingness to reach out to others. When we encounter situations that push our limits, we can find the space for others within us. Even when we do not, we can reflect and think of how the space can be found.
The theme of this yearbook is Our Hearts Unite. The hearts of the Class of 2022 were certainly united in purpose, united with each other and united with Eunoia and all we stand for. I am immensely proud of each and every one of you — you are unique, talented and loved. I am grateful to have met many of you. You have taught me much about life, about your dreams, challenges and what makes life meaningful for you.
Your time in Eunoia was as much about the A-Levels as the incredible programmes, whether it was the Deep Dive Days, the Leadership Academy, House events, special programmes such as the BSP, EHP and MEP, CCAs, service and leadership opportunities, Life Coaching experiences, Orientation, Commendation and Graduation and the countless things happening in college. You totally lived it up in whatever ways you were able to.
Your time here has also been amazing and life-changing because of the big hearts of the Eunoia community, from the teachers in the classroom, staff in the office, labs and library, our canteen stall holders or our janitorial team. They have worked tirelessly through the immense space they have in their hearts for you. A big thank you to them!
Importantly, I hope these experiences, the friendships and memories forged, the examples that I hope we have been for you, have enabled you to find space in your hearts for more and to be united with our hearts across the generations of Eunoians! As always - wishing you Eunoia.”

Ready… let’s go! Getting a headstart on fitness goals, our JC2s put their physical limits to the test in the obstacle course designed by the Outdoor Adventure Club (ODAC). Crawling, climbing, lifting and pitching, Eunoians got ready to forge ahead in 2022!
Orientation
Welcome, JC1s! With smiles undiminished by masks, our new Eunoians got into the groove of Orientation fun and games, reaching out to new friends and putting their best foot forward as Eunoia’s sixth cohort.
“Our team worked hard towards the common goal of presenting our Eunoia spirit at the National School Games (NSG), providing encouragement for our athletes. Our councillors funnelled our fiery passion into one Eunoia voice. With every fibre of our being dedicated to supporting our peers in the arena, we created an electrifying environment at the NSG. It was a spectacular display of our Eunoia spirit, demonstrating unity in the face of challenges.
As this was the first time after two years that live audiences were allowed, we had not anticipated how the high energy levels influenced the competitors. It was only after experiencing the relentless cheers from Eunoians and witnessing the players put in their utmost effort in response that we realised the strength our voices gave them.
‘Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much.’ Our Eunoia Spirit is our distinguishing factor, and each of us has a part to play in building the Eunoia of tomorrow. Together, we bring this dream into reality. Together, we build our own EU-nique Eunoian culture. Together is how our Eunoia Spirit will shine!”

“Designing the mascot was a step into the unknown because we didn’t have much of a blueprint to follow! However, it was nothing short of exciting to be creative and think up different ideas to bring together all involved stakeholders and engage Eunoians in innovative ways.
A big challenge was accommodating the opinions of all the stakeholders. We tried to bring these ideas together, but we found it impossible to accept every suggestion. In projects like this with diverse ideas from many parties, we found it important to remain open-minded in listening to the ideas, but also equally crucial to believe in our own opinion and stand our ground where needed. Ultimately, we hope that Eunoians would think of Noya as an amiable friend in our school.
Designing the mascot and seeing it transform into a tangible costume was the most memorable part of our experience. We were nervous about how the school would react to the mascot, but it all went away when we were greeted by loud cheers as we went on the stage. I hope future batches of Eunoians will continue to love Noya as much as we did.”

Lee (21-E4) Kah Him (21-I3)“Pursuing new initiatives was nerve-wracking because EJ Ambassadors is new, and we were therefore unsure about our roles. Nonetheless, we came together to reach clarity on our mission, and successfully carried it out, with the help of our supportive teachers and fellow ambassadors. Working with like-minded people, and knowing that our legacy will live on in our juniors, is very fulfilling.
One of the challenges we faced was the COVID-19 situation resulting in Open House being moved online via social media publicity or zoom calls. We had to brainstorm new initiatives that would still be engaging and provide a holistic view of EJ culture and what a prospective Eunoian could expect to experience and participate in!
Being in EJ Ambassadors allowed us to interact with individuals who were equally passionate in serving the school. We viewed it as giving back to EJ for everything it has provided for us. With our different experiences, we offered a melting pot of unique and diverse perspectives on college life!
One word of advice we’d like to offer to our juniors at EJC is: ‘Be fearless and seize the day!’
Step up for EJ Ambassador duties or give input about how to improve EJC’s outreach during your discussions. Just do it, because you’d never know how valuable your contributions would be without trying.”

“With improving the Eunoia experience for everyone in mind, our time in Council was highly meaningful as we pursued initiatives to create change. Our united efforts towards achieving our goals resulted in the best outcomes we strove for. Being a body of like-minded yet different individuals, there were inevitably differences of opinion. Yet, therein lay the opportunity for better insights — this enabled 5SC to eventually do our best work that represented our strength and unity in diversity.
Through the process, we have found that the journey of self-discovery is key to stepping out of, and in the process expanding, one’s comfort zone to improve oneself as a leader.
While it would be difficult to pinpoint our most memorable moment, seeing our work come to life will always be special. We will also always be grateful for the friendships we have taken away and for the relationships we have built.
Remind yourselves to live in the moment, and everything will turn out just alright! Never forget that you have the power to change the course of things. Learn to trust the process and trust your team — it will be worth it.”

“A performance in school felt all but impossible but we managed to perform our first concert in two years during Humanities and Aesthetics Week (HAW). We felt lucky to showcase our skills after the hours spent practising. It made us better musicians, igniting our love for music. However, learning many CO pieces so quickly was not easy. Many of us were beginners and reaching the standards required for performance was a tall order, requiring us to make full use of our time during CCA sessions.
The most memorable part was the combined practices, where we could see the whole performance coming together and felt that we were getting so much closer to our goal. When we saw everyone taking that step forward together, it truly felt like we were all a part of something great. One key takeaway from HAW is the friends and memories that we have made. HAW and CCA in general made our school life more vibrant and allowed us to take a break from studying.
We hope our juniors will find the experience of performing at HAW a wonderful reward for all their efforts. Have faith in yourself! There are teachers, instructors, and fellow CCA mates who are all in this together with you.”

“Our Singapore Youth Festival 2022 experience was unique! With the Covid-19 pandemic, our plans were repeatedly derailed and altered. Furthermore, the pressures of school and pandemic life had prevented us from fully gelling as a team in 2021.
We now had to fit a disparate jigsaw puzzle of humans together quickly. The scale of SYF performances meant many tasks to complete and everyone had an important role to play. With everyone highly willing to be engaged and spend hours outside of official training to commit to our roles, we succeeded! We had to place immense trust in each other’s abilities, to constantly adapt to the many changes and ever-growing rigours. We learned to depend on each other and work as one entity. The moment of stepping into the theatre felt almost surreal as we were finally able to share our performances with an actual audience. Teachers from various departments, and even our Principal, Mr Andrew Tan, could turn up to watch our plays in person!
To the J1s: You guys got this! You saw how your seniors guided you, and now your task is to guide your own juniors to the best of your abilities. We have nothing but absolute faith in your abilities and your passion for Drama!”

“Participating in Humanities and Aesthetics Week (HAW) 2022 was thrilling, especially since it was the first time Eunoia Choir had the opportunity to perform live in 2 years and hold a performance in the Bishan campus. However, it was also a test of our endurance as we had to learn a range of 4 to 10 songs, instead of our usual 1 to 2. While it was strenuous, the encouragement we received from everyone kept us going towards the finishing point! It was definitely memorable seeing the sea of flashlights in the audience while we performed our encore song, “Somewhere Out There”. The support from our family and the school population pulled at our heartstrings, and performing together as one gave us a sense of camaraderie. It was an experience that we will treasure for years to come!
Furthermore, HAW helped us to realise that we should cherish the time we have together as a CCA, especially since choir was one of the CCAs that had to move online during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through this challenging experience of making the necessary changes to sing online instead of onsite, we learned to persevere in the face of trials and tribulations, and hope that our choristers will carry on in the same spirit. After all, this may be trite but true: the only constant in our lives is change.”

“Melomania V was Symphonic Band’s keystone event in 2022. Having presented music that challenged fundamental musical concepts, we found Melomania V intriguing and an opportunity to delve into more unorthodox forms of music. One challenge was interpreting the pieces as we were initially unsure about how the pieces were to be expressed, and overall musical direction. However, with our teachers’ guidance, we presented unique renditions. The most memorable part was the audience’s bewilderment during some of our displays - most notably, our rendition of John Cage’s 4’33, which was essentially 4 minutes 33 seconds of silence. Seeing the number of people who supported us also made it an honour to perform!
We feel that the main takeaway is to seek new things; so long as you’ve got the drive to try something, nothing can stop you. Indeed, “to play wrong notes is insignificant, but to play without passion is inexcusable”. As much as we aim for perfection, we must not forget the love we have for music; to share that love should always be our goal.”
Axel Heng (21-I5) Xavier Hui (21-O5) Symphonic Band“Humanities and Aesthetics Week (HAW) was a very precious milestone in our JC journey, since it was our first, yet last performance with a live audience. From choreographing the dances to helping out with the publicity and logistics, everyone put in their utmost effort. Many dancers were concerned that the quality of our performance would be compromised as there was an immense amount of work to be completed within a short time period. However, each one of us motivated the other, and we all stayed positive and pulled off a successful performance.
After our showcase, we huddled on stage and watched a video of our EJC Dance journey together. It was our last performance and being able to share these last few moments together was truly something very precious. HAW was the conclusion of the J2s’ CCA journey and put into perspective how precious the memories with our CCA are.
‘If This Is The Last Time’, our batch item, was truly a culmination of all our memories from the time we first stepped into the dance studio to HAW.
We hope that the next batch can exit HAW knowing that they’ve given their all and are proud of themselves! To our juniors: committing yourself to dance isn’t easy, but it’ll be worth it!”

Deep Dive Day
This year, with a focus on appreciating the people around us, Deep Dive Day saw Eunoians reaching out and sharing memorable moments with our non-teaching staff.
Unconference
Lessons today did not require any lecture notes or tutorial assignments –it was a day to explore what called out to our hearts! Be it finding our footing in rollerblading, or exercising some creative muscle in crafty ways, it’s full marks for participation and bonus points for an adventurous spirit of learning.
Humanities and Aesthetics Week
On top of brilliant exhibitions and performances from our Humanities students and Performing Arts CCAs, the Humanities and Aesthetics Week also uncovered hidden gems amongst Eunoians, in Eunoia Got Talent!
the BSP EXCO has allowed me to learn alongside others and curate unforgettable memories.
Many who asked how it was taking three Chinese subjects had the misconception that as long as I was good in Chinese, I could do well in all of them. However, they vary greatly: Chinese Studies in Chinese features a more formal, fact-based use of the language, while Chinese Language and Literature engages the language in literary contexts, and Translation (Chinese) challenged me to explore the linguistic aspect of Chinese.
My unusual subject combination raised some eyebrows, but I found joy in being able to pursue my passion. That enabled me to turn this into a fun conversation starter and proudly identify myself as “the girl who takes 3 Chinese subjects”. We are all capable of much more than we think we are, and I hope we can all be brave in pursuing our dreams!”
Wang Danying (21-A1) BSP Student Committee Vice-President“Being in an academic track with three Chinese subjects sometimes felt like a lonely pursuit as I had a separate timetable from many of my friends. However, being part of
“The small things about daily life in EJC stick with me most. It was at the stairwells of Eunoia where I practised singing with my friends and hit my highest note ever. And at the performing arts studio, my friends and I danced and attempted ballet (to various degrees of success). Those were days so fun that it made my heart full and the people who kept me going. The intensity of preparing for the A-Levels took a toll, but I’d always treasure fond memories of the picnics we had, the laughter we shared, and the canteen food (the dishes we loved as well as the ones we…only liked).
My Translation teachers were such a highlight too; Translation was not my forte, but Translation classes were always so much fun! My teachers, Ms Yang and Mdm Ng, made time to get to know us outside of class and I am grateful for how Mdm Ng always cared for and believed in me, even when I despaired about my grades. She made me feel heard and valued as a student in a way I hadn’t before!
Many of my peers in the Class of 2022 have so many beautiful things to offer to this world; all I want to say is that you all deserve a stage to dance on and a voice to make an impact with. Always surround yourself with laughter. You are much more than your grades, and I hope you faithfully believe that your intelligence and zeal matter beyond the exams!”

“Eunoia, and my batch of 2022, has exceeded all the expectations I had for JC life! I did come into JC with many goals and outcomes in my mind, but now I appreciate the process of getting here so much more! Through every cohort event, I’ve had the chance to understand my friends a little better. One event that I’ll always hold close to my heart is the House Signature Event (HSE)! Being a proud Oreo, I had the privilege of leading and participating in Ora’s class-based painting activity, auctions, Kahoot quizzes and fun little games. Given the COVID-19 restrictions, it was much cosier than previous years and while we weren’t able to intermingle between classes, I’m so happy that my class was able to spend this short and sweet time together! Every cloud does have its silver lining, and for me, this silver lining was memories made with the House Committee and with O1! I also saw how hard the house worked to pull off HSE, Ori and House Walk-In, and though it wasn’t perfect, I’ve been inspired by their dedication, and relentless desire to make the most of every opportunity, and for that I’m really thankful.
Overall, EJ has blessed me with many fulfilling relationships so I’ll keep reminding myself and my friends: enjoy the process!
The A-Levels are so stressful, but I was able to spend time studying with the people I love and friends who bring so much joy — they have just made this whole process a little more bearable so, I hope you all find the little joys in this journey too!”
Isabel Yamada (21-O1) Valedictorian (Arts)“My past self, filled with doubts and uncertainties, would never have thought that my future self would have met so many amazing people and gotten the support from so many friends and family. I used to think that Covid had robbed me and Eunoians of a normal JC experience, but the new friendships and memories that were forged from a different environment, and the countless people that I have yet to thank, made for more than just a ‘good’ EJC experience, but a memorable, much cherished one.
The memory that stuck with me the most was certainly the College Dress-Up Day. In the days preceding the main event, my classmate was bombarded with onesie orders and everyone begged her to help purchase onesies for the class! On the day itself, even those that didn’t buy a onesie showed up in pyjamas, DIY costumes and other fascinating outfits. When taking class photos, it looked like we were taking photos of a zoo! It was these moments that made me feel ever so grateful for my classmates. I always felt like I was a part of the Eunoia community, and that made me want to make others feel included too! Beyond that, my class has always been happy to lend a helping hand to each other, always being friendly and accepting to each other. Moreover, I would like to thank my civics tutor, Ms Claudia Tan, for never failing to put in her all to support my classmates. I would also like to thank my subject tutors for relentlessly answering everyone’s questions and taking the time to teach me new concepts. Without my classmates and teachers, my EJC experience would not have been the same!

Executive and Administrative Staff
“As a Dean, my job is tied with student well-being and engagement. However, not all engagements are serious. I recall once having free time and deciding to join a group of ‘OG-lings’ who were playing hide-&-seek. Such impromptu interactions are valuable in light-heartedly getting to know students, and help me uplift Eunoians’ daily experiences.
My biggest challenge is ‘Time’. Although I endeavour to connect with all Eunoians, it is challenging to meet everyone within the short year. So do say ‘Hi!’ if we meet along the corridors! But with a team of dedicated staff who do inspiring work, most other challenges can be overcome.
Of all our college events, Graduation Day holds a significant place in my heart. As each cohort graduates, the staff feel proud witnessing the growth of each student. Graduation is momentous for all involved and reminds us why we come to work each day – to help students become better people.
Over the years, I have witnessed dreams become reality in this place. Eunoia is not defined by our buildings but is made magical by the people who call it Home. I hope for Eunoia to continue to shine as a beacon for Beautiful Thinking and Goodwill to All. #EunoiaShining.”
Mr Ganison Rajamohan Dean (JC1)“Typically, I start off my day with a munch to fill my tummy and get me going before checking my emails and finishing my assigned tasks. Aside from that, I will be answering phone calls, replying to queries from staff and students, and handling other tasks. Thankfully, I have a bunch of great colleagues around to help me out when I’m in need of help or when I am unsure. I am always grateful for that and appreciate their gestures. Lastly, of course, I look forward to going home which is the best part!
Of course, in every job, there will be challenges. Even so, my job as a customer service officer is to be able to assist in whatever I can to meet the needs and expectations of visitors, students, and staff. I aim to do my best to put a smile on everyone’s faces!
In my one and a half years with Eunoia, I must say Eunoia is a unique place that is surrounded by beautiful things – be it the scenery, our Eunoians, the staff or everything else, I am never short of memorable moments.
I hope every single one of you will find your rainbow to shine on!”

Back in full force, the Inter-House Games pit our five houses against each other at badminton, basketball, floorball, frisbee, softball, table tennis, track events and this year, Mobile Legends! Minds, bodies and bonds all grew stronger in this one day of friendly fun!
“Although the National School Games 2022 brought a bit of disappointment, we still gained a lot from the experience. We are amazed by our improvement since many of us did not have prior expertise in basketball, and our close-knit bonds have been reinforced through this journey.
Just before our Quarter Final Game, we decided to meet our coach at the National Stadium for a final practice session. Feeling excited and ready to go all out, we completed our warm-up run in record time. But it started pouring right then and we were forced to seek shelter! While it was a pity we were unable to do much training, that moment of hilarity did give us the positive strength to assuage the pre-game jitters we were feeling.
The NSG proved to us that we were much more capable than we thought, and we will continue to train hard and make a comeback as stronger Titans in 2023, aiming for the best as always. There will certainly be tough times but we believe that we will be able to overcome them!”
Diana Tan (21-E2)“Right from the get go, we knew that this year’s NSG was going to be tough. Not only because we lacked experience, but also because of the obstacles that resulted from the pandemic, such as online zoom CCA, which made the practices less consistent. This meant that we had to relearn many skills again and again. Despite the difficulty, we trained as hard as we could and never backed down. Our coaches were always really encouraging during games and never gave up on us.
Our last match against ACJC was especially memorable. They were the toughest opponents in our lineup, but we managed to make EJSB history by scoring two runs against their team! NSG 2022 was undoubtedly a step up for most of us who were new to the sport, and it will always be a core memory of ours.
To our juniors, our aspiration for you is to trust your teammates, support each other and appreciate the time on the field with them. They are the people whom you can learn so much from, and who will truly be one of your biggest #whyej’s. So do your best and leave no regrets!”
Yap Kah Him (21-I3), Karen Khor (21-I2), Claire Tan (21-E3), Alena Hua (21-O1), Rachel Puah (21-A5) Softball (Girls)“From playing and training hard, pushing ourselves to the limit, to the encouragement we gave each other along the way, it was a great journey towards the NSG. A major challenge we faced was a lack of experienced players. This was a source of anxiety, especially as our competitors even had players on the national team. But with support from each other, we managed to overcome this obstacle and do our best.
We are proud of how far we have come. Despite facing uncertainties such as the finals being cancelled initially due to unfavourable weather conditions and especially with our exams nearing during the competition season, the team persevered. And it is such perseverance that rewarded us with valuable memories. Even losing the finals against Raffles was a valuable experience: as we were fighting a losing battle, we had nothing to lose and so we kept fighting. Feeling the disappointment of losing, that was what truly showed our desire to win and the immense effort we had put in.
We hope that future Softball members will not only continue the legacy and bring the CCA to greater heights, but also create a more vibrant and welcoming environment to share their passion for the sport.”

“As this was the first year competitions resumed since the pandemic hit, we finally had a chance to show what we could do after all our efforts in training. With such excitement in representing the school, we played to the best of our abilities in every single one of our matches. Witnessing how the whole team worked so hard together towards a common goal of making the school proud is certainly one of the most memorable moments of this experience. In addition, during our final match, having many of our close friends and family come down to support us and cheer for us meant a lot to all of us and we are very thankful for our supportive friends and family!
One key takeaway from NSG was definitely that the experience outweighs the outcome. Having fallen short of our own expectations of ourselves in the semi-finals was a tough pill to swallow as we had failed in our conquest for the gold medal. Nevertheless, our team grew together as one and the experience of representing Eunoia is definitely one that we will cherish.”

“This was the first time in a few years that NSG could take place properly, hence the team had high levels of enthusiasm during training sessions. Training was more fun thanks to that! Through training sessions and our teammates’ support both in training and during matches we improved our teamwork to come out stronger from challenges.
Our coach and teacher-in-charge entrusted us with the responsibility of forming the line ups for each match. Hence, we had to ensure we knew the strengths and weaknesses of our teammates as well as try to decipher what our opponents would do. This proved a challenge every single match and we even had to take risks of forming doubles teams with players that have not played together before. However, we were able to overcome it by examining what strategies our opponent had used for previous matches before selecting our line-up and run this by our teammates to ensure that they were comfortable with their partners and the matches they would be playing. We are very thankful to our teammates for trusting us during this process and doing their best!
To our juniors, remember that being anxious is normal. Your friends will be there to support you, so believe in yourself and ask for help if needed. Most of all, remember to have fun!”

“Overall, it was an honour and privilege to represent EJC. Despite the tough draw which affected our confidence initially, we rallied together as a team to keep our morale high throughout the competition and encourage each other to give it all we could. Though our results were not perfect, we are still satisfied with the strong fight we put up as a team. Hopefully, at the next fight, we can make it into the quarterfinals as we certainly have the potential to reach greater heights and make EJ proud!
What was most memorable was not the competition itself, but the bonds we forged within the team. The tough but fun training sessions, the cheering, the encouragement, the support, and the team dinners, all made our experience that much more fulfilling and memorable.
To our juniors, always aim high and work hard and never forget to take a moment to enjoy the experience with your team. Treasure the precious time you have with one another, have as much fun as you can and make memories you’ll never forget!”

“The National School Games (NSG) 2022 was an eye-opening experience, being our first time competing in awhile due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our team was closely bonded because of our small size. As our match against a strong competitor approached, we felt the rising tension. However, through mutual support, we strengthened our camaraderie and emerged from the NSG knowing that we did our best.
The most important lesson we discovered was to cherish every moment, be it on or off the court. A single point could determine the game, spirit or morale. At times like this, our camaraderie shone through with our upbeat cheers and vigorous support for one another.
Looking to next year, we hope to exceed the expectations we set for ourselves. Be it attaining victory, or just achieving steady improvement, we hope to finish our games with no regrets.”
“The most memorable part of our experience was getting into the Top 6 in NSG for the first time in EJ history! The cheers that erupted after we secured the spot were definitely unforgettable. This was especially as we had faced challenges in our training, with a few players in the team who were injured. They had to work even harder after their recovery, attending additional training to make up for lost time.
The key takeaway from NSG was the teamwork required even in solo matches. A team is only as strong as its weakest link. Focusing on improving as a team rather than merely as individuals, we gave each other pointers for improvement, worked with the coach to strategize lineups, and cheered each other on during the game. Teamwork helped us achieve this top 6 finish!
One aspiration the team has for NSG 2023 would definitely be for our juniors to keep supporting each other, having each other’s back in both victory and defeat. Only then can the team improve collectively and soar to greater heights!”

“Going through the rollercoaster of emotions on competition day and witnessing the growth of everyone in the preparation leading up to the NSG will be an experience we hold close to heart! With the majority of us being new to the sport, it was certainly not easy to adapt to the vigorous training and the new environment. Often, when we feel discouraged after not hitting our target, it is the words of encouragement of our teammates, teachers and coaches that help us build more self confidence and stay driven. With such determination and will to stay motivated in our own ways, we managed to push through and give our best.
When it comes to our most memorable part of our experience with NSG, it would certainly be the close ties formed, not only with my teammates but competitors from other schools as well. The display of sportsmanship by all participants is indeed the heart of such competitions.”
Vincentius Ganendra Halim (21-E6) Lee Boon Bin (21-O6)“It’s amazing how training, time and hardship can bring the whole team together. The journey leading up to our competition is one that we hold dear to our hearts. It was rewarding to see how everyone has grown, both on and off the field, since we first joined Ultimate Frisbee. Having to pick up many new setplays, skills and formations in a short span of time was not easy. Our teachers and coach helped us organise multiple friendly games with other schools, which was helpful in our preparation for Inter-JCs.
As one EJUT, we overcame all the difficulties. Be it when we huddled together to do a team cheer at the end of every training session, or when we exchanged encouragement notes to affirm each other’s hard work, there were many moments that made us reflect on how far we have come, and how our wins were won through our sweat and tears. We started off this journey as strangers, but we ended up becoming family.”

“EJVB has always provided a safe space to hold conversations related to our personal lives. Having the opportunity to watch the team grow from a group of strangers to friends who will stay connected even after graduating was the best feeling ever.
The National School Games (NSG) allowed us to forge strong bonds with people that we have come to cherish dearly, making us feel grateful to have contributed to EJVB. During NSG we had to be flexible and adaptable to prepare for any unforeseen circumstances. The stress of striving to do our best for the season while being constantly worried for our academics demanded a resilient mindset and we pulled through with constant support for one another throughout the whole journey. One key takeaway from NSG is to reflect after every game. By doing this, not only do we learn from past mistakes and improve for the better, but we also do our duty as team players so that everyone can benefit greatly.
To our juniors, we’d like to say, ‘Train hard and really enjoy the process! Know how to strike a balance between putting in your best effort but also not stressing yourself too much.’”

“The National School Games (NSG) formed a significant part of our time in EJ and the memories and strong bonds we forged are things that we will treasure. It took precious time and effort dedicated to training for us to hone our skills and build rapport as a new team. With a strong focus on communication, we were able to establish effective teamwork based on mutual trust, and with a shared goal, we encouraged each other to play our best game every time. When we tried our best against formidable opponents and won different games, we gained a sense of accomplishment that our hard work had paid off. The intensity during such matches was special and the pride we felt when we put up a good fight was indescribable.
Through this journey, besides the value of teamwork, we also learnt that we should be humble and recognise that everyone is on a different path – there is simply no shortcut to becoming the best.”
