Hidden Earth Gems Visit Etsy Shop Why did you start your Etsy shop? "There is something magic about gemstones and their natural beauty that is released when they are cut and set. I love how all gemstones are unique and come in a rainbow of colours. After years of collecting gems, I decided that I wanted to share them with others. I started setting a few gems in sterling silver and found that I really enjoyed giving them the chance to be seen outside the gem jars. While I work with many well known types including moonstone, sapphire, garnet and many others; I wanted to introduce people to a wider variety of gemstones so I opened Hidden Earth Gems."

"After enduring a grand mal seizure caused by stress and extreme exhaustion; I became really passionate about plant based, natural products. I had been making my products as gifts for friends and family until a good friend suggested I should try selling my products. My entire first year of business I made LSB a hobby on top of my full time corporate role with only an etsy shop. A year later, I was able to leave my job to pursue LSB full time, rolled out a website and have never looked back."

I like how I can create different shapes out of a flat piece of leather to create dimension and structure. Vegetable tanned leather can be shaped and molded like clay when it is wet so it’s a very versatile medium to work with."

I enjoy creating beautiful products with all of these mediums. Raffia straw is my favourite because it has a way of looking beautiful no matter the colour. You don't have to make it look "perfect" either, I find it actually looks prettier when it is not uniform. I use raffia straw to make pom-poms and fringe which I use to decorate the palm leaf bags."
Why did you start your Etsy shop? "I work full time as a pediatric nurse, a job I truly love and enjoy! It is also a job that can be stressful at times, and I was looking for a way to destress at home. Since I was a young girl I really enjoyed creating and doing crafts. As a hobby on my days off I began to hand make decor for my home and my friends. I found crafting as a great way to decompress after busy and often stressful days at work. When my craft room and home became filled with too many items, I found Etsy as the perfect way to share my items online."
