When a customer enters a search query on Etsy, we look at the titles, tags, categories, and attributes you’ve added to your listing to find matching keywords. Use all 13 tags, add all the relevant attribute options, and categorise your items as specifically as possible to help increase the chance that your listings will match with a query.

Tags

Do use all 13 tags. Do target specific “long tail” keywords (ex: floral coffee mug). Example: Dining Table Do consider synonyms and regional phrases (ex: wall art - wall decor - wall hanging; sweater vs jumper). Do research keywords using Etsy’s search bar, looking at your competitor’s tags, Google’s search bar, and other retailer’s websites.

Don’t use single word tags. Use multi-word phrases instead. Don’t include both singular and plural versions of a word. Don’t add keywords in multiple languages.

Use a title that includes exact keywords buyers would use to search for your item.

Place the most influential phrases at the beginning of title.

Etsy’s search bar can help you find out what’s in demand and suggest long tail keywords that may be relevant for your listings. You can also use and click on the “Explore related searches” (down the listing page) and check the related searches to gain additional ideas.
