ANSE MAJOR Difficulty : Easy Getting there: Transfer from respective hotel to Bel Ombre to Danzil, alighting at the Danzil terminus. Follow the road up the hill for about 200m. Take the right fork in the road, passing through the small but expanding settlement of Danzil following the yellow route markers. About 200 m after the road turns into a walking path, take the left (uphill) trail.

The trail follows part of the rocky coastline of northwest Mahé and leads to the small secluded beach of Anse Major. Much of this trail lies within the boundaries of the Morne Seychellois National Park, with spectacular rock slopes (called 'glacis' in Seychelles) and native vegetation typical of the drier areas of Mahé.

COPOLIA Difficulty : Moderate Getting there: Transfer from respective hotel to-Sans Souci-Port-Launay and drive to drop off at “Nature's Own” garden. With an altitude of 300-580 metres, the Val Riche-Copolia trail is situated within the Morne Seychellois National Park and a variety of interesting species can be seen there. Valle /Anse Lazio (Start on Praslin) The "Heart of Praslin" is home to remnants of the original palm jungles of the Seychelles and has often been described as a "Garden of Eden" thanks to its secluded and mystical nature.

It's possible to follow the traces of prehistory in this pristine jungle area, unchanged for millions of years, and find all six of the endemic palm species that can be found here.

The Coco de Mer, the largest seed in the world, is particularly admired by visitors, and is the reason for the National Park's world heritage site status, which was recognised in 1983 thanks to the Vallée de Mai's 'excellent exemplification of a characteristic Seychelles palm forest'.

The Vallée de Mai is also home to the rare Black Parrot, of which there are three species in the Seychelles and one more sub-species in Madagascar. The birds are very shy and usually can only be heard. If you wish to take pictures and don't have a high-quality camera, you should use flash to capture your image. At the top of the Glacis Noire it becomes light again, and you can enjoy a stunning 360° view from here.

Despite its small size, Cousin boasts a number of species and habitats. The plateau forest is characterized by mapouPisonia grandis, Indian mulberry Morinda citrifolia and bwa sousouri Ochrosia oppositifolia where many of the landbirds can be seen. There are wetlands where fresh water attracts dragonflies and moorhens; the hill creates ideal nesting sites for shearwaters and bridled terns; on the seashore crabs and shorebirds abound. The coastal vegetation comprises casuarinas Casuarina equisetifolia, vouloutye scaevola sericea and bwa matlo suriana maritime that help in coastal protection as well as providing habitats.

Five of Seychelles eleven endemic land birds are found on Cousin Island. They include the Seychelles magpie robinCopsychus seychellarum, Seychelles sunbird Nectarinia dussumieri, Seychelles fody Foudia seychellarum, Seychelles blue pigeon Alectroenas pulcherrima in addition to the warbler.

Seven species of nesting seabirds occur in numbers exceeding 300,000 individuals; fairy terns Gygis alba and white tailed tropic birds Phaethon lepturus nest all year round, whilst lesser noddies Anous tenuirostris, brown noddies Anous stolidus and bridled terns Sterna anaethetus have different breeding seasons. Two varieties of shearwaters, Audubon’s shearwater Puffinis lherminieri and the wedge-tailed shearwater Puffinus pacificus are found on the island. The former breeds all year round whilst the wedge- tailed shearwater breeds from May to October. A recent census was undertaken to determine their numbers and estimated the population at 11,000 individuals.

Cousin Island is recognised as one of the most important nesting sites in the western Indian Ocean for hawksbill turtlesEretmochelys imbricata. Some 30-100 turtles come ashore to nest a year in broad daylight, whilst elsewhere they nest under the cover of darkness. Other reptiles found here include Aldabra giant tortoises Geochelone gigantea, and four endemic skinks – the Seychelles skink Mabouya sechellensis, Wright’s skink Mabuya wrighti, the bronze geckoAiluronyx seychellensis and the burrowing skink Pamelaescincus gardeneri, as well as a native green gecko Phelsuma astriata, giving Cousin Island one of the highest lizard densities per hectare in the world.

The Special Reserve area includes the surrounding marine area up to 400km offshore.

2. Praslin and Cousin Island birdwatching tour from Mahe Activity: Ecological Tours / Island Hoping 10 hours From Mahé on a 1 hour ferry, arrive on Praslin. Leave Praslin from a taxi boat to Cousin Cousin Island holds some important restricted endemics just to name a few Seychelles warblers and magpie robins the latter listed on the IUCN as critically endangered. Cousin being a special reserve has laws to be respected like smoking is totally forbidden and flash photography is not allowed as it frightened especially the nesting birds. In case tour coincidence with the sea turtles season please do not approach it as this may frightened it and prevent it from nesting.

After spending hours on the Cousin island leave in taxi boat back to Praslin and transfer to Restaurant for lunch.

Continue the Island for Bird Watching Tour (by car) to sum up before taking the ferry late in the afternoon back to Mahé.

3. Aride Island birdwatching tour from Mahe Activity: Ecological Tours / Island Hoping 10 hours From Mahé on a 1 hour ferry, arrive on Praslin. Leave Praslin from a taxi boat to Aride Island Aride is the most northern Island in the inner island group, being a very sufficient island in the early 70's, Aride were soon to become a special reserve, It was purchased in 1973 by Christopher Cadbury for Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts, (RSWT) a British conservation organisation. After many years RSWT took the decision to pass responsibility for Aride to a local conservation organisation. Island Conservation Society successfully applied for this privilege and in 2004 management was transferred to ICS Seychelles. The island was leased to ICS on a trial basis with a list of conservation targets to be met. After successfully meeting targets, the freehold of Aride was passed to ICS and is currently held by a UK registered charity, Island Conservation Society UK. Aride holds the largest roosting colonies of Frigate birds in the inner island and it is the only island of the inner group were roseate terns breeds.

Aride is of great interest for Birdwatchers and it offers tours at a very relaxed paced up to the viewpoint where you can appreciate not only the view but the "countless myriad" of birds as it was once describe in 1868, when Dr. Edward Perceval Wright visited Aride. He was the first naturalist to explore Aride, and gave his name to a large skink (now Wright’s Skink) and a shrub unique to Aride, the Bwa Citron or Wright’s Gardenia (Rothmannia annae).

Aride closes to visitors from May to September due to strong surf making it difficult to land by boat.

Zip Lining (Constance Ephelia) The SMAC Adventure office is based in the Constance Ephelia Resort, Port Launay.

This spectacular course borders the enchanting beaches of both the Small Kerlan Cove and the Grand Kerlan Cove. Palm trees, allowing the light to intermittently filter through, fringe the first 12 holes. From the 13th hole, the course extends over the steep slopes of a thickly forested hill, with breathtaking vistas.

Mr. William WEIDNER holds the Professional record having scored four under at 66 (during the Pro Am des Seychelles first of December 2006).

The front 12 holes are situated in a valley and the back six are elevated on a small slope offering a spectacular view of the Indian Ocean.

DIVING Dive sites vary in depth from 8 to 30 metres and provide conditions for divers of all abilities. Morning dives are generally deeper dives, while afternoon dives tend to be shallower. The inshore dives provide sheltered conditions on both granitic and coral reefs; while the coral structures were affected by the 1998 bleaching event the fish and marine life have recovered well and are abundant.

The offshore or long-range dive sites of the inner islands offer some of the very best diving in Seychelles and are suitable for more experienced divers as these sites tend to be deep The custom built high speed catamarans load directly from the beach front outside the dive centers and take guests quickly and comfortably to the dive sites of their choice. All dives are boat dives with a seven day a week service and at least two dives per day. Sunset Boat Cruise Do you want to enjoy a very special afternoon after another day in paradise indulgence, sit back, relax and take it all in.

We'll pick you up at 5pm from your hotel and head for the North coast of the island, specifically to Beau Vallon Beach.
