Timeline of Peace and Human Rights
Every year 19 million children, worldwide, flee their homes in order to find a safe place to live. 70% of them never make it. The ability to be able to live in a safe place is part of our human rights, yet many of our students and children grow up never realizing the struggles other people have to endure to receive fair treatment. This new timeline is aimed at advanced upper elementary students and those schools implementing a Montessori middle school curriculum. With an emphasis on cause and effect, this timeline helps students understand the need for human rights as defined by the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Designed primarily for the middle school concepts of “Change”, “Force”, and “Balance”, this timeline can also be used to show upper elementary students the concepts of bringing about change. This concept has never been more important than today, particularly with all the changes that are taking place in several countries throughout the Middle East. With the help of this timeline students will be able to trace the path that civilizations have followed through the years, as we strive to bring about the changes that will better the lives of future generations.

Timeline of Explorers
Exploration has opened our eyes, our minds, and for years it has sparked the imagination of countless students who dream of discovering something no one has ever seen or felt. Use this timeline to spark your students’ imagination as they trace the paths that Cortez followed through Central America. Watch them imagine the sights and smells as they travel down the Niger river. Allow your students to imagine what it must have felt like to huddle together for warmth as they explore the snow-capped dunes of the North Pole. Because this timeline is based on the same scale as our other timelines in these pages, you may use this feature to show cause and effect, and how advances in one area affect the development in others.
