The Science Questions stories are Concept Cartoons for 5-8 year olds. The CD has 16 narrated stories about problems faced by a group of young friends covering different aspects of science.

Problem Pup

Problem Pup gets young learners engaged in science exploration. Similar to the Discovery Dog series, the CD consists of 6 beautifully animated and narrated stories. There are also ideas for free exploration, directed play and key questions, accessible through extra screens on the CD. Printable planning boards accompany each story. All the resources, teachers’ notes and boards are downloadable directly from the CD. Problem Pup, Sam and Serena puppets are based on the characters in the stories. Spellbound Science creates problems for children to solve. These original stories provide starting points for scientific enquiry and help children to develop scientific understanding. Each story ends with a Concept Cartoon where characters argue about their ideas as a starting point for discussion.

The stories come with a bank of key science vocabulary, a range of ideas for different kinds of enquiries, key questions and background science in child-friendly language. Maths on Fire is based on the ever-popular matchstick puzzles. But there is far more to the puzzles than making shapes. These tricky little puzzles require lateral and creative thinking to find solutions. Rational Food

The Rational Food resource pack is an outcome of the Rational Food project. It uses an imaginative cross-curricular approach to healthy eating, science and the history of World War II in primary and lower secondary schools. Using authentic archival material from the Rowett Research Institute, it traces how rationing in World War II relates to current issues about healthy eating.
