The Education Training Collective (Etc.) is a group of vibrant colleges and training providers, incorporating Stockton Riverside College, Redcar and Cleveland College, Bede Sixth Form College, NETA Training and Innersummit.
Etc. delivers a full range of adult education courses, including distance learning, part-time study, access to higher education, higher education, apprenticeships, employer-led short courses, and commercial training.
The decision to go back into education as an adult often requires a lot of thought. We hope this guide provides the answers that you need to make an informed decision about your future.
Part-time courses offer adults the flexibility to study alongside their work and life commitments. Whether you are looking to learn something new, boost your CV, or embark on a career change, our part-time provision has something for everyone, from construction to care, maths to management, and everything in-between.
Designed with you in mind, we aim to provide training that will fulfill your goals and increase your opportunities. Our course content is intentional and ensures learners are taught the skills that employers are looking for in the workplace.

All our adult students can access our learning resource centres. Each has an extensive range of learning materials to support your studies, along with a variety of ICT facilities. Our LRC teams are also on hand to offer support.
We offer all students use of the VLE, helping you to communicate with tutors, as well as providing access to course materials. The VLE can be accessed both on campus and remotely, helping you to complete your studies, wherever you are.
As a student you will have access to our leisure facilities across all our sites, this includes refectories, a café, hair and beauty salons and free access to our sport and gym facilities.
Our sites have some of the most advanced technology to help meet the demands of your course. This includes enhanced ICT facilities and industrystandard equipment relevant to your field of study.
The Early Years and Education department at Stockton Riverside College now has a dedicated practice suite where you can develop your skills in facilities that replicate a reallife work environment! This exciting new area has specialised early years resources and equipment to support your progress in practice. It also includes a teaching area which mirrors a real-life classroom.
Our fully operational motor vehicle workshop at Stockton Riverside College has been upgraded with industry-standard tools and machinery. Our students get to learn their trade working on cars with some of the latest kit in vehicle technology. The workshop has two car lifts, dedicated bays, an electric car rig and so much more!
At Redcar and Cleveland College, learners can build their skills in the inhouse Mosaic salon. Mosaic offers a range of hair and beauty treatments to the public, operating as a fully equipped commercial salon using high-end brands such as Wella and Dermalogica. Mosaic ensures all hair and beauty learners receive real, hands-on work experience. To make an appointment, call 01642 777 184.
Hair and beauty learners at Stockton Riverside College can get a feel for work life during their studies in the Serenity Salon. It boasts the latest equipment and technologies to support our learners with their training and offers high-quality services to the public. The Serenity Salon is at the forefront of current trends in the industry, offering everything from creative colouring and cutting, electrical body and facial massage, laser hair removal and various nail treatments, including nail extensions.

All GCSE and Functional Skills maths and English courses are free to adults aged 19 and over who do not hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English or maths.
Level 2 distance learning courses are fully funded if you are aged 19+ and have lived in England for a minimum of three years.
If you are planning to study a level 3-6 further education course or access to higher education diploma and you are aged 19+ you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. Students can apply for a loan to meet the upfront costs of their qualification, which will be paid directly to the college on their behalf.
An Advanced Learner Loan falls under Plan 5, in the below link, and repayments only start when earning an annual salary of £25,000 or more a year. If the loan is for an Access to Higher Education Diploma and you subsequently go on to complete a higher education course, you won’t have to pay back your Advanced Learner Loan.

AAT is an adult course. Learners must have a grade 4 in maths to enrol. To apply for level 3, learners must also have a Level 2 AAT qualification, or relevant experience which can be discussed with our tutor.
Course content is flexible depending on learner need. Learners can study Microsoft Word/Powerpoint use, spreadsheet
and other elements.

After trying university and realising that traditional classroom learning and endless PowerPoint presentations weren’t for her, a house move helped set Celine on an entirely new path.
She relocated with her family to Stocktonon-Tees and found that Stockton Riverside College was right on her doorstep, allowing her to walk in for classes.
While browsing the adult part-time course guide online, the Level 2 Bricklaying course caught her eye.

There
The King’s Trust Team programme is a 12-week personal development course aimed at young people aged 16-25 who are currently unemployed. The King’s Trust Certificate in Employment, Teamwork and Community Skills is available at Levels E3, L1 and L2.
Team is offered at a variety of centres throughout the North East including Stockton, Middlesbrough, Redcar, Catterick, Bishop Auckland and Darlington, with start dates throughout the year.
The King’s Trust Achieve programme is a yearlong course for young people aged 16-18 who are unsure of what vocational area to progress on to or may need to develop their confidence.
The course includes a King’s Trust Certificate in Personal Development and Employability at E3, L1 or L2, two days per week on work placement from January, and maths and English functional skills or GCSE.
Achieve is offered at Redcar and Cleveland College and Stockton Riverside College.
