Silvia & Vanessa, Owners of Beauty Depot & The Esthetic Institute
V
anessa de Mello and Silvia D’Costa have been best friends and inseparable since meeting in pre school at the age of 3. Their sister-like friendship blossomed and flourished during their school years of elementary to high school. In 2000, they graduated from the Faculty of Management at the University of Calgary with Bachelor of Commerce degrees. In their final 5th year of study at U of C, the ladies were inspired by an entrepreneurial program and began considering business options together. Shortly after graduation, they were presented with a unique opportunity to take over a small, 400 square foot wholesale distributor operation in Calgary, called Beauty Depot. This was the start of their emerging career as entrepreneurs.

or the past 17 years, these women have made a full-time professional commitment to the development, growth and success of the Canadian Esthetic and Spa industry through their businesses. They currently own and operate 2 Beauty Depot stores in Calgary and have recently moved their south location to a larger, state of the art 12,000 square foot facility in the Fairmore Business Park.
N
ot only are they responsible for the global distribution and importation of over 40 professional spa product lines, they have successfully opened 2 Esthetic training centers in Calgary, Alberta attracting new and existing Estheticians nationally. Currently, their post secondary school offers over 60 certified courses and 7 programs. An extraordinary and exciting opportunity came about for The Esthetic Institute in 2015. The school successfully achieved acceptance to offer an internationally acclaimed, full-time “Masters� program of Esthetics called CIDESCO. This program, originating from Switzerland, is the highest standard of training Estheticians can achieve worldwide and is recognized in over 25 countries. Upon receiving a CIDESCO diploma, students from The Esthetic Institute will be employable internationally and have the highest credentials of education.

ne of the greatest rewards for this duo is realizing the success of their clients and watching them grow and succeed.
