Wissahickon Arch 2121 Griffin Fall 2024

My project is an exhibition space to display art and archeology. Situated in the Wissahickon Valley Park that honors the Lenape Homeland, it includes a 1902 statue of a prominent Native American,Teedyuscung, by J. Massey Rhind. Since some have critiqued the statue as misrepresenting the Lenape people, my exhibition space brings together contemporary and historical works of art and artifacts to reveal a more in-depth story of the Lenape people. My design strategy was to highlight the light and darkness of the site with the Statue of Teedyuscung being open on top and more secluded areas beneath the statute. Location: Wissahickon Valley Park Area: 1,500sq-ft Typology: Mesum
