Graphic Fields Arch 1011 McAdams Fall 2023

I created a collage by analyzing, describing, and translating spatial qualities from two descriptive words: dark and twisting. I took pictures of the Temple University’s campus and surrounding areas to discover these qualities in the built environment. The graphic fields project required that I use Rhino to overlay architectural information onto my collage, specifically focusing on linework, color, and hatching.

Physical Models Physical Lines & Planes Models This model represents my collage but it is made with bristol board and wooden sticks laid over cardboard.

Creating it in these materials created depth and a stronger representation of the moving lines in the design.

Physical Mass-Scape Model Using a laser-cut file on a rhino and laser-cut cardboard, I made a model representation of my collage in cardboard. This model powerfully revealed the depth created by overlapping lines and shapes.

Learning Pavilion Arch 1011 McAdams Fall 2023

This project tasked me with designing a Learning Pavilion in the green courtyard space between Tyler and the architecture building. This space was conceived as an outdoor study space for a small group of people. My design concept created a sunk-in study space covered by a perforated awning, surrounded on two sides by stepped-styled seating to maximize the number of people who could use the space.

Jewel Arch 1012 Na Wei Spring 2024

How would you represent the words rhythmic and stepping in a 3D object? This assignment asked that we create a Jewel inspired by descriptive words. My 3D Jewel uses a moving pitch that steps up like stairs to visualize the words rhythmic and stepping.

Jewel Chamber Arch 1012 Na Wei Spring 2024

The Jewel Chamber is an exhibition space to display the Jewel. I continued to use the words rhythmic and stepping to shape my plan. My concept created a space where you could view the Jewel from above on a cat walk or below from a stepped down entrance into the chamber.

These drawings represent my jewel chamber in relation to the human body in Plan, Section, and Isometric drawings. The plan is a top-down drawing of the jewel and the jewel chamber, showing how the chamber uses a step-down mass-scape and how light affects the chamber space. The section shows how the jewel chamber looks from the side. The axon drawing shows an orthographically 3D image of the jewel chamber with shadow to show its depth.

This assignment expanded on our preceding work on the Jewel and Jewel Chamber. We were tasked to design a terrain that could contain our chamber. My design imagined a valley where you could walk down steps or cross one of two bridges to view the jewel chamber. My section drawings show the location and positioning of the steps and bridge in relation to the chamber. The plan shows the topography of the valley and the axonometric drawing gives the viewer a full perspective of the site.
