FROM THE PRESIDENT

Tammye Tillman Jones

On behalf of the Essex County (NJ) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, it is my esteemed pleasure and honor to welcome you to our 15th Biennial Emerald & Ivory Cotillion. This will be a truly magical evening as we congratulate and acknowledge the awesome achievements of this year’s Emerald & Ivory Cotillion Debutantes, their handsome Escorts and families.

Essex County (NJ) Chapter beams with pride as we present our Debutantes who have participated in a nearly year long Debutante Leadership Program and have distinguished themselves, not only as academic scholars, student leaders and athletes, but also as individuals who understand the importance of and commitment to community service. The outstanding young ladies are peer advisors, tutors, and hold leadership positions in their school and communities. As Debutantes, they have participated in informative workshops, and community service projects.

Proceeds from the Emerald & Ivory Cotillion will provide college scholarships for the Debutantes, and support for Essex County (NJ) Chapter’s ongoing award winning programs for over 35 years. Our programs of Excellence in service to the community have received Top Honors and Recognition by both the Eastern Area and the National Level of The Links, Incorporated, including addressing food insecurity and promoting healthy living with our youth through the “Little Chefs Program”, “Garden and STEAM work at St. Mary’s Preparatory School” in Jamaica, and “HBCUnited Program” for college students. Other health-focused programs include our “Mammogram Masquerade Ball” where we provided free services and counseling to women, and our “Donor Sabbath” initiative that focused on the importance of saving lives through organ donation. We continue to work with high school students in The Arts by addressing their training, performance and essential needs of their school. We reached out to the community during the Presidential election with a Voter Registration Drive, and provided a forum to discuss issues. Lastly, we always focus on literacy for the youngest of these with “Book or Treat” for Halloween.

Again, thank you for supporting the Essex County (NJ) Chapter and our beautiful and accomplished Debutantes and distinguished Escorts. We salute them for dedicating so many hours towards this evening’s extraordinary and enriching event - the Emerald & Ivory Cotillion. To the Debutantes and Escorts, may your dreams take you to the corners of your smiles, to the highest of your hopes, to the windows of opportunities, and to the most special places your heart has ever known. Go confidently, with God’s Blessings, in the Direction of your Dreams!

Enjoy the evening,

November 8, 2024

2019 EMERALD & IVORY PRINCESS

Greetings to the young women of the 2024 Cotillion. My name is Chloe Mason. I am your 2019 Emerald and Ivory Princess. It has been my distinct honor to wear the crown and I look forward to passing it along at the end of another wonderful debutante season. It brings me tremendous joy to hear that you will embark on this amazing journey, as this is near and dear to my heart. I want to be as honest as I can in saying when I was in your shoes I didn’t know what to expect, and quite candidly, I was unsure of where this journey would lead me. But must I say, it led me to the most beautiful community of talented and brilliant young women that I consider myself profoundly grateful to have met. We spent a considerable amount of time together, and above everything, we were each others’ biggest cheerleaders.

I urge you all to cherish the bonds you create; they will likely be what you remember the most at the end of this journey. You will remember all the laughter shared at rehearsals, the wisdom imparted to you by our lovely Co-Chairs, the joy of trying on your gown, and doing the fatherdaughter dance. And then it will be over in the blink of an eye. It is a magical experience, one of which I never imagined to mean so much to me. I want you all to find the joy in all the little moments, make lots of memories, and support each other every step of the way.

Every single one of you is already a queen in my eyes. You are poised, brilliant, beautiful, and talented. Hold your head high, lead with your heart, and most importantly, never let each others’ crowns slip.

I look forward to meeting you all!

Love always, Chloe Mason
