Sending Mail to Deployed Members

Did you know you could send morale mail to your deployed member for free? The MFRC will accept letters and care packages at both our CPAC and Signal Hill locations. For more information, visit the How to Send Morale Mail section on our website or call the Fleet Mail Office at 250-363-2176.

Monthly Information Sessions for Deployed Ships

Get the latest information and updates about your military member’s deployment with live Zoom updates from the ship’s Command Team. Senior members of the Canadian Fleet Pacific Staff and the MFRC will be on hand to answer questions, address concerns, and provide updates on workshops and activities. Watch your Family Network page on our website for details and registration information. Please note that these sessions are for selected deployments and/or operations.

The Everything Binder

The Everything Binder is a great tool to have on-hand anytime, especially when preparing for a deployment or work-related absence. With versions specific to single members, pets and kids, the easy to complete worksheets will help you keep track of EVERYTHING you may need at a moment’s notice. Deployment Support Handbook

If you have a loved one deploying or away on a work-related absence out of CFB Esquimalt, this handbook is for YOU! With versions for sea, land, and submarine deployments, these handbooks contain tips, resources, and information specific to pre-deployment, deployment, and post-deployment periods. Hosted by the Esquimalt MFRC, this podcast explores deployments, postings, transitions and more through interviews with MFRC staff, experts in the community, military members and military-connected family members. Respite Child Care During Absences

Funded by donations to the MFRC, respite child care is available at no cost when a military parent is away on a work-related absence for 21 consecutive days or more. You can receive one continuous 3-hour session per week up to a maximum of 4 free sessions per month in our Casual Child Care (see schedule in this section). Punch cards keep track of family usage. Parents must complete registration forms and follow established guidelines. If you have unique child care needs, call the MFRC at 250-363-2640. Call 250-363-2674 to reserve. Book up to 8 days in advance if deployed. Additional sessions are available at Casual Child Care rates.

Supporting Children Through Absence*

*Formerly Children’s Deployment Workshops Supporting Children Through Absence helps children adjust to a parent being away on a deployment or work-related absence. Workshops offer an opportunity for children to interact with other children who are going through the same experience. Visit our website for sessions offered and to register.
