Phil-IRI ‘17 report states that G7-Oliva has zero independent level reader and 27 frustration level readers out of its 34 students. Faced with this alarming issue, FABINHS geared towards the root of the problem Just like other public high schools in the Division of Lipa, FABINHS is confronted with the reality that majority of its students are in the Frustration Level. It means that less than 85% of the words are recognized or comprehension falls below 50%. Thus, Project Students and Teachers’ Engagement in Learning Across Reading (STELARR) was conceived last year in order to help the freshmen improve their performance. The involvement of all stakeholders was highly considered to make the project succeed specially the parents who were advised of their significant role in the process of acquiring knowledge. A lot of expectations were expressed by the parents for their children as for the teachers have for the parents. English subject was revealed as the most difficult subject which ranked eighth with an average rating of 75.06. Since majority of the subjects were taught in English, the reading ability, comprehension and grammar count a lot. After working hand in hand, stakeholders found that it was poor vocabulary that hindered the students to perform well in reading. Mrs. Daisy Budomo, Master English Teacher I, CIP leader, together with other project proponents came up with a compilation of intervention used specifically by Grade 7- Oliva during ICL time. Their skills were highlighted that sufficed the expectation of both adviser and parents. The intervention materials helped the students improved while having fun. A post-test was conducted to determine the result of the program. Also, it was noted that the section’s academic performance has greatly improved.

The vacated site will become additional barracks, clasrooms and training facilities to be utilized by AETDC. The project is expected to be finished by 2020.
STUDENT VIOLATIONS PEAK AT SEPTEMBER Records from the school’s discipline office reflect that most violations happen during the month of September. “It may be because of the outside-of-the-classroom-activities which are mostly held in the said month... for these activities are outdoors ,student-centered and have less teacher-supervision”, said Mr. Brian Lacerna, Discipline Officer.

Citizen Army Training (CAT), in accordance with House Bill 113, will now be known as Advanced Citizen Training Program or ACTP. A seminar-workshop was held last July 5 to prepare 100 teachers and 100 AFP commandants from identified schools offering grades 11 and 12 projected to implement ACTP. Mr. Jay Sargento, Teacher 1 and a reserve personnel of the Philippine Air Force was among those who attended the seminar entitled “ACTP meet”. ACTP is anchored on Speaker Raneo Abu’s Housebill 113-- a proposal on the Mandatory Basic Reserve Officers Training Course.
The proposed bill was unanimously approved by the house of representatives as a proirity measure by President Duterte during the 12th cabinet meeting on Feb.7 in Malacanang. FABINHS will be one of the pioneer implementors of this program in CALABARZON since the campus is located inside a military camp. ACTP is a joint venture by DepEd, DND and AFP. Before formal implementation, HB 113 must be approved by the senate. It has been 12 years since FABINHS implemented a military course for its students.
