TIME TO TURN ON CHRISTMAS! Christmas comes to Cathedral Square on Saturday November 19 when the city council gets the festive party started in Peterborough. Paul Stainton, breakfast show presenter on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire’s Peterborough Show will be hosting the entertainment with loads of free fun throughout the day from 4pm-6pm. Then the lights will be turned on and we officially kick start Christmas in the city centre. Paul told ESP – "It is indeed a huge honour to stand on a stage on a freezing cold December night and be heckled by the good folks of Peterborough! “I haven’t yet decided how hecklers will be dealt with, but I have been stocking up on paper plates, custard and hundreds and thousands. Seriously though, it will be brilliant, I can’t wait to see you all there." This year there’ll be some brand new Christmas lights, music from top local acts, fireworks, a very special guest to turn on the lights and of course Father Christmas will be dropping by as well. The main sponsors of Peterborough’s Christmas celebrations, The Clock Restaurant, will be serving a selection of winter warmers and licensed alcoholic drinks from the restaurant on Bridge Street, which can be taken to Cathedral Square. Paul Tapparno-Clark, manager at The Clock Restaurant told ESP – “All of us are really excited to be involved with the biggest series of community events of the Peterborough calendar. We want to establish ourselves as a member of the local community and we hope that people will see that The Clock Restaurant is here to serve the needs of everyone in Peterborough.” For more info call 01733 747474 or visit www.peterborough.gov.uk
