I have been lucky enough to be intimately involved with both the New Zealand and Australian Professional Photography Awards this year, and I’m blown away at the level of talent the professionals are coming up with - visual storytelling is stronger than it’s ever been! For those of you lucky enough to have been to Auckland and listened to the APPAs over the live stream you will have heard some great photographic debates between judges. Canon New Zealand has announced plans to launch an online image management service, to help kiwis take complete control of their ever-expanding image collections. The intelligent, personal image management service will enable users to simply and safely store, organise, share and access their photos and videos – regardless of what device they were captured on – from a central online hub. A free trial of the service will be available later this year and Canon has opened registrations of interest to enable people to be among the first in New Zealand to experience it, as well as be able to 4 www.nzphotographer.co.nz
“We understand image management and secure storage can be a real headache for people, which can prevent them from enjoying and doing more with their personal collections. This new image management service will allow us to complete their imaging experience simply and securely in one place, allowing people to do more with what they see and achieve more with their images than they thought possible” said Conner. Canon’s online image management service will make it easy to safely store, organise and access your lifetime image collection online through simple upload options, sophisticated indexing and tagging functionality, and two-way social media integration. While
details of the service and fee structure are yet to be announced, Canon confirms that the service will be a paid model with an emphasis on complete privacy of users images and data, enabling total user control of their collections.
