The game was developed iteratively in collaboration with teachers. Developers used the Unity3D game engine and the Vuforia AR SDK. Every week, developers showed a new version of the game to teachers who acted as supervisors of the design and proposed pertinent changes. The resulting product was a Videogame with AR called “An adventure through Cauca”. In this game, the student must act as a touristic guide whose mission is to lead the ―invisible‖ alien tourists (who become visible through the mobile device) to their desired destinations according to their requirements (Figure 10.4. b). For this, students make use of markers, each with a different function in the game. After that teachers conducted the evaluation in the classroom stage in two scenarios with 15 and 30 students respectively (Figure 10.4. c). The evaluation involved the implementation of learning materials and software installations in the selected scenario, and the implementation of physical assets (maps, markers) as well.

Each scenario was done under a social sciences class with 2-hours duration and it included a learning activity designed by teachers. During the learning activity, students read a website with information about the Cauca department and then played the game. At the end of the class, the teachers conducted a reflection session to gather insights into the students’ experience.
