WHAT'S HAPPENING IN & AROUND TOWN
FORTNIGHTLY
As you all may know this time of year is a bit hectic around town. We have more cars on the road (traffic jam parties on Dempster), businesses are flooded with foot traffic (so great to see) and the coastline is swarming with salty beach babes. So it is a great time to bring attention to an increasing issue - our waste. This fortnight I would love to see more people getting pro-active by picking up rubbish they see around town and on our beautiful beaches. Go to page 5 for a list of easy to follow of tips on how to keep our town clean & reduce our waste. If you are around town on the 5th of Feb, why not lend a hand in the ‘Keep Esperance Beautiful day’ which starts at 9am at the car park next to the skate park. More info page 5!
Australia Day is jammed full of events, pages 10 & ll have you sorted with a list of everything that’s on. Photography credit: georg hildner If are interested in participating in the Open Water Swim Thru make sure to register by the end of the day (Wednesday 25th). I highly recommend everyone head down to the Whale Tail to watch the finish line, there will be breakfast for those who get in early, catered by the amazing ‘Bread Local’ - I hear bacon & egg sangas are on the cards. In the evening head to the Fringe World Circus Spectacular for some solid entertainment for the whole family. Taylor’s Beach Bar are hosting the Vol. 2 of ‘Beach Dazed’ on Saturday 28th, a live music event which starts at 2pm and continues on into the night finishing up at 10pm. The line-up includes local bands & DJ’s - more info page 8. I hope everyone enjoy’s their Australia Day and the rest of the upcoming fortnight. Sunscreen is a must in the next couple of days, and so is a couple of fresh brews, prawn’s on the BBQ & the Triple J Hot 100 in the background.
