WHAT'S HAPPENING IN & AROUND TOWN Spring has officially sprung and we couldn’t be keener for warmer weather. With the change of season comes the wildflowers, and the southeast region is blooming with both bush flowers and festivals to honour them. Head to Bush Banter on page 9 for more information on upcoming shows in both Esperance and Ravensthorpe. The approach of summer also means we can start slowing stripping off our winter layers of clothes, so naturally it’s a good time to start thinking about health. If ‘summer bodies are built in winter’, there’s plenty of catching up to do and fortunately Esperance has an array of fitness and yoga classes on offer (see page 7). The Bay Of Isles Leisure Centre has also launched BOGA Fitmats—ie. floating yoga mats—for anyone tired of the same old pilates/yoga routine and keen to try it in the pool instead. You’ll be headstanding on your stand up paddle board in no time!

Another thing gearing up with the return of the sun is the business community. Business owners are prepping for what may well be one of the biggest tourism seasons yet, if our beaches’ tendency to ‘go viral’ online is anything to go by. The future of tourism in Esperance is a topic hotly discussed in our opinion piece Chappy’s Point, and we’re always keen for your thoughts on local issues. Remember you can submit at: esperancetide.com/chappyspoint. In other news, we’re excited to report the Tide has officially moved into a brand new office space at the Cannery Arts Centre. With plenty of exciting things on the cards at the arts space, we’re stoked to be involved. Pop in during the week for any editorial/advertising enquiries or just to say hello, and be sure to keep an eye on the Cannery as it continues to evolve. Happy reading!
