Brazil - Portugal The other language of the colonial era, a language of sailors and poets, Portuguese is spoken by over 250 million people around the world. Its distinctive diphthongs roll over the soulful songs of Ellis Regina, João Gilberto and Tom Jobim just as the explorers once rode the waves of fortune in search of riches. Brazil and Portugal are tied together by a language and by a history that goes back to the days when the “New World” was new and Portugal was a major European power. Modern Portugal still has the impressive architecture from years gone by, with imperial palaces, grand boulevards and castles dating back to Moorish times dotting the rolling Iberian plains. But the old-time grandeur is fading in a country that is embracing a European future. One thing that hasn’t changed is the beauty of the landscapes, including some of Europe’s finest beaches and a breathtaking Atlantic coastline. On the other side of that ocean, Brazil is also looking to the future. Latin America’s largest country is booming. In a place that faced the hard times with a smile, this new prosperity has people positively beaming. From the depths of the Amazon Basin to the heights of Sugar Loaf Mountain, from the wild nights of carnival in Salvador de Bahia to the serene calm of Maceió’s beaches at sunrise, Brazil finds new ways to surprise and delight you. Portugal or Brazil? That’s a tough decision…

Marielle Dubois Stylist, 1 month in Lisbon “Lisbon? What a great place! I didn’t really know what to expect before I arrived. Now I have been there I can only recommend this superb city where I had such a good time. The school was excellent, with highly motivated teachers and students from all over the world. I loved the atmosphere in Bairro Alto. Thanks for everything!”
