Asia University (AU) is a visionary, pioneering, and fast-growing school, and was founded with the goal of establishing a remarkable and comprehensive university with international competitiveness. Karl Jaspers, a German philosopher, believed that an ideal university must have three features- academic teaching, scientific research, and a creative cultural life, which exactly are what we have been pursuing for years since the establishment of the school.

In the past of 14 years, AU has demonstrated excellence in academic performance, and was ranked as the first in many higher education evaluations conducted by the Ministry of Education (MOE). It was not only evaluated as the best among newly-established universities in Taiwan, but also granted honored projects from the MOE, the so-called Program for Promoting Teaching Excellence Universities, for 10 years consecutively. Meanwhile, AU has earned international reputation by several world university rankings. For example, according to the Times Higher Education BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings 2014, AU was ranked the 53rd among the top 100 universities. Furthermore, AU was evaluated as the 99th in the 100 best universities under 50 years in the world, and the 83th among the top 100 universities in Asia also by the Times Higher Education Ranking.

International degree and/or non-degree students who are not native speaker in English must demonstrate language proficiency in order to choose the following programs conducted in English.

The minimum requirement is to reach the level of CEFR B1, which is equivalent to TOEFL iBT 61, TOEFL PBT 500, IELTS 5.5, or TOEIC 650.

Scholarships Students are encouraged to apply for scholarships provided by Taiwan government, such as Taiwan scholarship. Moreover, Asia University provides a limited number of scholarships each year for talented international students. All applicants may have an opportunity to compete for scholarships, depending on qualification of applicants, program admitted, and available budget.

Applicants who have received Taiwan scholarship are not eligible to receive Asia University Scholarship.

˙Asia University Scholarships Currently, Asia University offers different types of scholarships shown as below. The type of scholarship awarded to student is decided by the Admission and Scholarship Committee.

To apply for Asia University scholarship, applicants must specify in the application form and submit it with all required application materials to the Center for International Academic Exchange.

Awarded students in Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral programs are supported for at most four, two and three years respectively. An average score of less than 75 and 80 in previous academic year for undergraduate and graduate students, respectively, will result in disqualification of receiving scholarship. To enhance internationalization and cultural exchange on campus, students receiving scholarship above B level are mandatory to participate in activities/services (30 hours per semester) arranged by the Office of International College.
