ENGAI’S MARSUPIUM WILDERNESS PAVILION PROJECT : COMPETITION TYPE : COMMERCIAL LOCATION : KENYA

ENGAI’S MARSUPIUM (Engai- Massai god Marsupium- protecting pouch) The objective of this proposal is to allow visitors new way to view and experience the wilderness and be close to nature.

The building depicts a sense of development as the local residents of Kenya the Massai were told to leave their tradition and develop in a modern form but they refused to do so. Here the beak is like a tradition along with the spirals of development which they managed to go hand in hand.

The pelican bird’s beak acts as a pouch which is here symbolising a protecting space for the bond between the humans and ecosystem.

FUNCTION In the ground floor as we enter , a museum is proposedwhich gives a feel of Kenya’s timeline. An idea to provide employment to Massai people is proposed by providing shops on the first floor to sell and show their traditional obiects.

THE BREWED WAVE CAFE THAT SERVES MORE THAN A CUP OF COFFEE PROJECT : COMPETITION TYPE : COMMERCIAL LOCATION : VIENNA, AUSTRIA

THE BREWED WAVE The proposal creates an iconic form representing the social functions around coffee and its significant contribution in forming the centre stage for the coffee culture for all these years.

The impact of the café creates a prolific, intense and symbolic that is achieved by the unique façade, the art of contrast and material juxtaposition, interactive spaces, etc.

The café conceives and act as hub for making conversations happen, socialize or work in solace, decorated with multiple roles such as retail, activity centre and attract a variety of people, ranging from tourists to locals. They collectively act as pods of city’s identity, accumulating its crowd.

The design for the café explores the different interactive spaces along with the idea to bring music culture closer to people.

UNIT FORMATION The development of the housing starts at the individual unit level which then is distributed to module level and further to cluster level. Each individual housing unit is designed in order to cater to the user needs as well as the need of the climate of the area.

A house is the most important essence of the habitat, so rooms are placed in such a way that the rooms which need extensive sunlight like living rooms have been placed at the front and further moderate sunlight area and simultaniously cross-ventilation is also kept in mind with the placement of each room block.
