The Factory of Dreams

Curso Profissional Técnico Apoio à Infância 12.º G

Once upon a time there was a family who had almost everything.

The children played happily with everything that money could buy.

But, among so much joy there was a little bit of sadness. Rafaela, the youngest child, lived very sad because she couldn’t fill the emptiness she had in her heart. She believed in Santa Claus and deeply inside she expected that one day she would meet him.

The older sisters were always teasing her because they had never believed in the existence of Santa. For them, everything was just an idea made up by Rafaela, something in her head.

On Christmas Eve while the older sisters were playing in the basement with the flashlights their parents gave them, Rafaela was all alone looking at the teddy bear her grandfather offered her and thinking about the dream she had. Those memories made her smile!

Cláudia, one of her sisters, came to her and said: - What’s going on, Rafaela? Come and play with us! - But, sis, last night I had a wonderful dream! I dreamed of Santa! - Santa Claus exists! I know it! Grandpa told me that once and I believe in my dreams. Catarina interrupted and exclaimed: - Rafinha, stop that …. Santa doesn’t exist! It was just a dream, nothing else!

Feeling sad because nobody believed in Santa, Rafaela threw her teddy bear against the wall and suddenly she heard a scream – Ouch!! - Did you hear? Did you hear that voice? What was that? - What? I heard nothing! – said Cristina. - The noise came from there, Tina! – Rafaela pointed to the wall shouting with her eyes wide opened.

Rafaela looked around and discovered a big curtain hanging from the ceiling. She opened it slightly and couldn’t believe in what her eyes were seeing. - Uauuuu! I knew it! I knew it! - You knew what? Let me see! – said Cláudia – Move away!! She moved the curtain in a short fast movement and said with a tone of disappointment in her voice – I don’t see anything! You are dreaming again!! - Ohhhhhh! Really! Can’t you see?! The Magic of Christmas is here!!!! – Rafaela insisted.

Suddenly the curtains opened wide and a new magic world came to life.

Santa Claus stepped down his throne towards the children saying: - Rafaela I’m here because you believe! And the most important is never giving up our dreams. Never stop believing! While she kissed Santa Claus, Rafaela said: - Then …we must believe in our dreams, mustn’t we?

Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas! – they all shouted dancing happily!

The End
