ENERAL MANAGER MESSAGE

ll is here and it couldn’t have come soon enough! I think everyone is happy to see the temperatures drop and enjoy cooler eather This is probably my favorite time of the year to not only enjoy some football but more importantly, to enjoy some me on the course Now is the time the healing process begins on the course from the stressful summer heat That said, ad and his team have done a fantastic job with the playing conditions of the golf course, despite the heat and lack of rain

Our Capital Improvements projects have continued, the bridge on #12, and Erosion Control on #7 are complete and the Bulkhead work on #14 is ongoing We appreciate your patience while we complete these projects We are happy to announce that the Champions Plaques have all been refreshed and updated It is important to recognize our Champions, we look forward to keeping this tradition going

Congratulations to Chris Teafatiller, Black Hawk Golf Course Superintendent, on his promotion to Director of Agronomy at Black Horse Brad is in the final stages of announcing Chris’s successor, we look forward to sharing the announcement

The Black Hawk team has some fun events planned for you in October! The biggest being the Fall Festival, we hope you can attend and look forward to seeing you!

Fall has arrived! In the Agronomy world, October typically signifies we have endured the many challenges summer has thrown at us and can now dig our cleats back in and make this final push to recover the course, get those finite details dialed in, and have a successful Fall season before prepping the course to overwinter in proper fashion

October is typically a busier month with those members who may have escaped the rigors of South Texas summer returning, the weather being much more favorable for playing golf, and of course, tournaments Our team will be super focused on details, replacing some of the Zoysia areas on tees like 3, 4, 9, 11, 12 that did not survive the summer, weed control, and overall turf health Our Winter pigment program will also be implemented this month on all short cut areas such as tees, fairways, and approaches.

Welcome to October As we gear up for cooler temperatures, we have our Club Championship on the horizon October 7th and 8th will mark the battle of the fall where Garett Graham will look to defend his 2022 title Please make sure to register online or email Adam Schmitt at aschmitt@bhawkcc com

Calling all ladies! On October 27th and 28th, we will have our Ladies Member Guest Event It will be “A Night Out in Hollywood” as we through a cocktail party complete with tee gifts, baskets, and fun and exciting festivities The format will be a combined four ladies two gross and two net We will block off some tee times in the afternoon of the 27th for practice rounds for the ladies and they will be able to call the golf shop and get booked in The tournament portion will take place on October 28th and will be a 9:00am shotgun If you are unable to fill a team of four, please let us know and we can work on finding you some players to pair up with so we can complete your team

October 22nd will be our fall Parent Child event It will be a 1:00pm shotgun and will feature 9 holes of golf, a costume contest, and a pickleball match Make sure to mark the date on your calendar!
