Χαρακτηριστικά περιοχής Mt. Didymo lies in the southeast part of the Argolida Peninsula (E Peloponnisos). It has two main summits, both with max. altitude of 1129 m, hence the name Didymon. Other summits are Profitis Ilias (1068 m), Tourla (858 m), Spilies (789 m), Rachi Gravas (569 m) etc. The mountain is E-W orientated, while the two main summits are N-S orientated relative to each other. The mountain is bordered from the northeast by the Iliokastron basin, from the north by the Kochi Charta hills, from the east by the Aderes mountainous range, from the south by the closed basin of Didyma and the Salanti hills and finally its northwest border is the Tracheia-Vothiki-Pelei basin. The prevailing rock type of the mountain is crystallized limestone of Triassic – Jurassic age, a very saught-after rock, since it has the same appearance as marble. Other rock types like ophiolites and flysch sandstones are present mainly towards the northwest, north and northeast border of the studied area. Large quantities of clastic materials and clays have been trapped in the closed basin of Didyma, which is a typical polje-formation. The karstification of limestone is very strong since this
