Greetings,

I welcome you today on behalf of the members of Selma Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. to Jabberwock 2019. We are thankful today for these talented young superheroes and villains as they share their knowledge of the issues of our historical City of Selma. Today, family and friends have joined us for this Jabberwock presentation, which will acknowledge the concerns and give solutions to these on-going issues from the perspective of the children.

Today’s enlightening and informative presentation culminates an experience that has promoted bonding, and cultural enrichment for these participants. As the Superheroes of Selma – Epic Return we know that they are aware of the problems and are striving to make Selma a great place to live for years to come.

Selma Alumnae Chapter is most appreciative to all of the family and friends that have come to share in this special day. We extend a very special thank you to the parents of these participants for allowing us to share this time with your children. It has been an honor and a privilege. A special thank you to the Cotillion Chair, Eris Beasley and Co--Chair, Stephanie Moore for a job well done. Kudos to the committee members for your commitment to the success of the Jabberwock and as always, thank you Selma Alumnae Chapter for all that you do.

Greetings Family and Friends, The Jabberwock is an activity peculiar to Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. The first Jabberwock was presented in 1926 in Boston, Massachusetts. In the city of Selma, Jabberwock continues to be a wonderful stage for young people to showcase their talents and also develop self confidence and self esteem.

Today, Selma Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., is honored and blessed to present to you “Superheroes of Selma.—Epic Return” These small Superheroes ages range from four to nine years old will fly in and share ways to make our city of Selma a better place. They have been devoted and have worked diligently in preparing for their presentation. New friendships have been formed, dances have been learned and fun has been had.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the parents and relatives of the Jabberwock participants for your dedication and grooming your children for this event. Thank you to our Chapter President, Dr. Sherica Braxton-Hatcher, for you unyielding support of this project. Thank you, committee members for your hard work and patience.

Sylvia Cook

Sylvia Cook is an educator and has been teaching for 18 years in the Perry County School System. She graduated from Concordia College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in elementary education and a Masters Degree in education from Alabama State University.

Sylvia is also a gospel radio personality for WBFZ 105.3 and is known to many as the Radio Angel. Sylvia serves on several committees at her school and community. In addition to teaching, she enjoys mentoring young girls, traveling, shopping, and spending time with family and friends.

Greetings My name is Kennadi Faith Parker and it has been my pleasure to hold the crown of Miss Jabberwock since 2019. I am now a 1st grader at Valley Grande Elementary School in Valley Grande, Alabama.

I enjoy dancing, playing softball and playing with my dolls. In spare time, I like spending time with my family. When I grow up I plan to attend college and become a teacher.

Little Miss Aubre Andrews is the daughter of Monica Andrews. She is seven years old & is a 2nd grader attending Sophia P. Kinston Elementary School in Selma, Alabama. She is a member of Green Street Baptist Street where she participates in the choir and the Youth Usher Board. Little Miss Andrews enjoys writing stories, shopping, drawing reading and cheerleading. When she grows up, she aspires to become First Lady, President of the USA or even a Lawyer.

When Little Miss Caydin grows up, she aspires to become a Teacher.

When Little Master Jackson grows up, he aspires to become an musician, baseball player or maybe a policeman.

He enjoys photography and going to the beach. He attends Plant Street Baptist Church, sings in the children’s choir and ushers on youth Sunday.
