Café Trés Artiste becomes Fair 2012 Hotspot A COLLABORATION BETWEEN three GIFT centers, Café Trés Artiste opened shop at the HS Activity Room from Jan. 26 – Jan 28, 2012 as part of SPCP’s 2011-2012 school fair, Siklab. The café not only served food and drinks, but also the chance for visitors to discover different talents from Paulinians. The centers for Culinary Arts, Visual Arts and Communication Arts prepared various gimmicks to heighten the café’s lively spirit. The Culinary Arts students and their instructors, under their president, Camille Hari, provided well-received courses, which ranged from sandwiches to desserts, such as the crowd favourite, red velvet cupcakes. The Visual arts area, headed by Zara Salazar, sold their custom-made notepads and comic books at the venue, and the Communication Arts students lined up the sides of the venue with their unique booths which helped showcase their respective GIFT course skills. Café Trés Artiste offered food, music and unique entertainment, but many believe that it was the student-based waiter service that completed the café deal. The booths and stalls lined up along the sides of the activity room were frequently visited as well. The newly-instituted foreign language GIFT classes offered food and other culture-related exposure from their courses’ country of origin. Journalism booth posted pictures of their upcoming magazine ‘Blah!’, alongside their mascot, Timmy Jr. The music was taken care of the radio broadcasting students, who took requests from café-goers. Some notable café events took place, such as the CommArts contest wherein interested visitors answer the question posted on the tables. Happy Hour was a crowd favourite as well. The three centers are happy with the huge success of Café Trés Artiste, and are looking forward to an even bigger event for next year’s school fair and talent fest.
TOO SUCCESSFUL - The Cafe Tres Artiste team was very surprised with the good reception the cafe has brought in. Nevertheless, they continued to show effort through serving the guests.
CommArts conducts 1st film fest LAST MARCH, the Center for Communication Arts kicked off We Found Love: the first independent movie film festival. The events ran from March 1 to March 16, in the Pre-School Mere Marie Anne de Tilly Convention hall. The events included the screening and awarding of the CommArts On-The-Job training’s central project, Cine Paulino, a film making competition among students, viewing of entries from the 180 Microcinema film festival, the re-run of Video Production ’10-‘11’s The Broken Hearts Club, which was well received last school year, and the premiere of Video Production ’11 – ’12’s Lifetime.
