"Social media giant Instagram launched its @design account two years ago with the goal of bringing creativity to a wider audience. Now, the platform is climbing out of the digital sphere and into the real world for an inaugural Design Miami showcase that aimed to grow the reach of its current campaign #designforall.

We wanted to use this moment to shine a spotlight on designers who are trailblazers and whose vision for the future is fearless, inclusive, sustainable and truly designed for all,’ says Watts of Instagram’s choice of studios, one of which is Studio Swine (@sudio_swine) that realised a bubble-shaped structure under which the four projects will live. ‘It is like tailoring a pair of gloves’ Alexander Groves, one half of duo Studio Swine said on opening day of Design Miami.

Using its ‘leave no trace’ approach, Studio Swine’s 100 per cent recyclable PVC space was an immersive treat for happy snappers, with a nifty filter too – ‘the inflatables are translucent which allows viewers to see though the whole booth as if looking thro›ugh a foam of soap bubbles,’ says Groves and studio co-founder Azusa Murakami. ‘This allows visitors to see the intriguing shapes of the design objects inside and also to create a photo opportunity for themselves within the installation.’

Hospitality spaces are upping their game, creating photo-worthy interiors designed for wow-factor appeal across contract, retail and hospitality.

Under the guidance of artists, hotels are disrupting hospitality conventions with a non-linear approach to design and experience.

With the inclusion of 360-degree walls, floors, and ceiling that seamlessly merge, designers can create a sensation of movement throughout large interior environments. Cocooning spaces with curvilinear details and the use of a range of materials creates a warmer, calming atmosphere.

COLOR ON CONTRAST The use of color, pattern, and texture is an excellent way for designers to draw and attract attention to specific and unexpected areas within the environment. With bright colors or a monochromatic palette, designers can create an all-encompassing space with the floor, wall, and ceiling. "The interior design project we have developed for Art Hotel Paradiso Ibiza is based on two key inspirations: Miami Beach, which we identify as pastel colours that blend with urban art, and the style of the group of the Italian architects of the 70s, Archizoom.

The nature of the project, which involved a total renovation of an existing building, has been determined by the material choices.

It is the material that has been used both in the common areas and in the rooms. It is also interesting to note that we liked the idea of mixing contemporary design with a natural element.

The access hall is designed as a multifunctional space, where, in addition to the reception we have added a library space, a cafe bar for events and a "Zero Suite" room.

On the other hand, the rooms and corridors are an explosion of colours. There are three different types of colour palettes for the rooms, mixed throughout the 60 rooms of the hotel.

Likewise, it is worth mentioning a whole series of customdesigned furniture and lighting objects for this project, that offer an added value to the interior design project and a more genuine character to the hotel's creative essence.

JFK's Iconic TWA Terminal Reopens as Vintage Hotel

by Beyer Blinder Belle "The TWA Hotel has opened at JFK Airport in New York.

Centered on the careful restoration of Eero Saarinen’s landmark 1962 former Trans World Airlines terminal, the hotel features 512 soundproof guest rooms, restaurants, and retail outlets.

The original terminal opened in 1962, epitomizing the glamour and optimism of the Jet Age. Designated as a city landmark in 1994, the building was closed in 2001 and listed on the National and New York State Registers of Historic Places in 2005.

Among the standout features of the new hotel are a sunken cocktail bar in the historic chili pepper red-carpeted lounge, and a Lockheed Constellation “Connie” L-1649A transformed into a cocktail lounge. A rooftop infinity pool and observation deck will offer views over the runways, while the world’s largest hotel gym will measure 10,000 square feet.

The project involved 22 government agencies and more than 170 firms. Turner Construction Company began work in the fall of 2016, with roughly 450 union tradespeople on site every day. The building was opened by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Tyler Morse, CEO of MCR and MORSE Development, on May 15th 2019."

Pink semi-transparent partitions and floors adorn 'omakase' restaurant by shanghai hip pop

by Hip-pop Design "Envisioned by shanghai hip pop design, the interior of ‘Omakase’ restaurant has been built to envelop guests in swathes of pink cherry blossom. situated within a renovated business center in shanghai, the brief required the creation of a space fit for the ‘romantic’ kaiseki cuisine that is served inside. as a traditional and high-quality japanese food, the team chose to complement the dishes by taking inspiration from ‘sakura rain’ – the phenomenon of cherry blossom petals falling gently to the ground in the breeze.

In a bid to encompass patrons in the ‘sakura rain’ concept, the design team has planned the space using pink, semi-transparent partitions and illuminated floors. decorated with flowers and dewdrop motifs, the glass separations intend to surround visitors in the falling petals of cherry blossom, resulting in a tranquil setting to sit back and enjoy the fine cuisine. these glazed walls also function to form a delicate balance between openness and mystery, as people can see through but not enough to encroach on the privacy of others.

On the first floor, the space comprises a core element that houses the stairwell and a private dining room. with it’s warm, glowing yellow color, it stands out amongst the pink interior, providing clear direction to the upper level. this solid block is also formed to allow a group to enjoy a more intimate experience. overall, with its soft lighting and material palette, the design by shanghai hip pop intends to wrap guests in the romantic surroundings of dancing cherry blossom petals, perfectly befitting the japanese cuisine of kaiseki.

Googie was the architecture mode which was born in Southern California, and came to express the space age, and the Art of the Living Movement was formulated by a new generation of designers seeking to express the space age for upscale lifestyle.

Cocoa Beach came to life during the 1960s due to America’s space program. NASA’s John F. Kennedy Space Center is located approximately 15 miles away. SITE CIRCULATION State Road A1A connec ts the entire barrier island of Cocoa Beach to the rest of the east coast of Florida.

A1A is the main roadway of the area and is used by the locals and those who are visiting. Although sidewalks align this roadway, it is not the safest place for pedestrians.

ATTRACTIONS The closest attraction to the building is a statue of a Cocoa Beach native, Kelly Slater. Kelly is a professional surfer and one of the g r e a te s t s u r f e r s i n h i s to r y. Googie architecture is a style based on the exaggeration of angles, steel, and neon signs. Googie is conceptualized off the idea that anything is achievable, even landing a man on the moon. Googie is undeniably the super-aesthetic of the 1950s and â&#x20AC;&#x2122;60s American retro-futurism.

CHROME HOTEL Location : Kolkatta, India Sanjay Puri Architects The hotel is planned in eight levels with public spaces occupying the first three levels and four levels of rooms above with a rooftop lounge bar on the topmost floor.

Since there was nothing in the surroundings to look out to at the lower levels, the entire volume comprising of the public spaces and the vertical circulation is punctuated by small 45 cm diameter circular openings.

A large house from the ’70s, located in Imerovigli Santorini, of three floors, was rethought as six suites hotel with a ky bar on the terrace.

Hierarchy : Use of vaults and arches were added within the interior as a modern interpretation of the of the cave like vernacular houses of Santorini.

TENSION:

Grounding refers to the manner in which a space, or part of a space, is defined in the total enviorment in ways that make one feel achored in space. People like to feel grounded.

A strategy that is sure to engage the mind, and emotions, is the use of deliberate tention in the enviroment.

The goal is to create a situation of temporary tention in order to heighten the userâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s emotions.

Grounding is achived by the arrangment of seating around columns.

Tention is applied by creating a sensd of release through the change of ceiling height from hallway to lobby.

EFFECTS OF LIGHTING ON THE CONSUMER:

Lighting can affect the emotional responses that influence consumer shopping behavior.

Ambiant lighting creates a sesne of comfort throughout the bar and lounge.
