VISION Lorain County JVS is the premier driving force where technology and learning converge to empower individuals for success in the global market INSTRUCTOR PAY The following procedures will be implemented: • Time sheets must be filled out and submi ed the week your work is performed. • Adult Career Center staff will be paid on a 24 pays per year basis. • Due to payroll processing there will be a one pay period lag me from the date mesheets are turned in to the payroll date. • It is the responsibility of each instructor to complete a mesheet and return it to the Instructor Informa on Center Completed Timesheet box. • Timesheets must be completely filled out, including signature. Any mesheet not completed will be returned to the instructor, thus delaying payment. • All Adult Career Center personnel are required to have their paychecks direct deposited. A sample of the Authoriza on for Direct Deposit of Payroll is on page 55 of the full Instructor’s Handbook. • For your convenience, a sample mesheet and a schedule indica ng payroll dates corresponding to dates when mesheets are due for the current school year can be found on pages 25 and 26 of the full Instructor’s Handbook. As a general rule, pay dates are the 15th and 30th of each month. INSTRUCTOR PROCEDURES Pick up a endance folder from Instructor Informa on Center in the Adult Career Center office. Mark a endance on student roster in hours do not use check marks. Go over the Student Handbook. Emphasize the importance of no fying the office staff of any changes in address and/or phone number. At the end of each class, make sure all equipment is put away and the classroom and lab areas are clean. A endance folder and flash drives must be returned to the Adult Career Center Instructors Informa on Center. Students may not take flash drives home un l the class is completed. Place folder in the appropriate day of the next class mee ng. (Folders are used for communica on between the Adult Career Center and teachers). 2

ADULT STUDENT DISCIPLINE Adult students are expected to conduct themselves according to the instructors classroom management rules as well as the policies and procedures of the LCJVS Adult Career Center. It is up to the instructor to set the tone for the class to comply with these rules. This is best done if you begin by firmly s cking to these policies and le ng students know they must be followed. The instructor will be responsible for enforcing building rules and exhibi ng good classroom management. Students who fail to comply should be referred to the Adult Career Center Director or Supervisor for further ac on. SMOKING GUIDELINES This is a smoke free building. Smoking is only allowed outside the teacher’s entrance in the gazebo. Smoking is not allowed outside the main entrance doors to the building. IT Help Desk Procedures For EVENING personnel: Dial 1234 from the phone in your room. For DAYTIME personnel : If you are having difficulty with technology in your classroom, you must file an online HelpStar request with our IT Department. If you are unable to access your computer or get online, dial 1234 from the phone in your room. Double-click the HelpSTAR icon on your computer’s desktop. (If you do not have a HelpSTAR icon on your desktop, please no fy your Supervisor or Director.) Enter your username and password. (This is the same username and password you use to log in to your computer each morning) Click “New Service Request” to log a new service request (SmartBoard, computer hardware or so ware, phone, printer, etc.) report an issue, or ask a ques on. You will have the opportunity to select the level or urgency of your request, the category it falls within, and when the request is due. TECHNOLOGY CENTER RESERVATION To use one of the Technology Center’s Computer Labs you can now make an online reserva on from any computer in the building with internet access. ATTENDANCE ROSTER Each instructor will be provided with an a endance roster for each class. Sample on page 33 of the full Instructor’s Handbook. A endance should be taken at the beginning of each class. Mark actual hours a ended at compleon of each class session. It is impera ve that accurate a endance records be kept. This informa on is necessary for repor ng to the State Department of Educa on. Students that are not on your roster and do not have a paid in full receipt for the class, but who are in a endance in your class should be asked to report to the Adult Career Center office to register and pay for the class before being allowed to a end. Instructors are encouraged to telephone and/or send post cards to students who are absent from class. Students appreciate this interest and your offer to assist them in making up class work missed during their absence. Supervisors will be responsible for checking weekly to ensure students are maintaining the 90% a endance requirement. GRADING SYSTEM The quality of course work at the Adult Career Center of Lorain County JVS is indicated by means of le er grades on the following percentages: A = 93% -- 100% Can perform task easily without supervision B = 85% -- 92% Can perform task with minimal supervision C = 77% -- 84% Can perform task. Needs maximum supervision D = 70% -- 76% Trouble performing task even with supervision F = 0% -- 69% Cannot perform task P/F = At the discre on of the instructor, PASS/FAIL grades will be used in non-unit programs Career Enhancement instructors need to check with their students at the beginning of class to see if a grade le er will be needed. Supervisors will be responsible for checking weekly to ensure students are maintaining the 77% academic average requirement. LAST CLASS MEETING During the last class mee ng instructors are to: • Have students complete final examina ons. • Have students complete the Evalua on forms provided in the a endance folder. • Complete a endance record. • Indicate student grades and hours a ended on a endance roster. • Pass out Cer ficate of Comple on to students. • Pass out current brochures. Collect all school materials.

ABSENCE OF TEACHERS If it is necessary to be absent, please no fy the Adult Career Center staff as soon as possible. The class may be cancelled or a subs tute may be called; this decision will be at the discre on of the Adult Career Center Director or Supervisor. Our goal is to provide students with instruc on on a mely basis.

REQUISITIONS FOR SUPPLIES If an instructor needs supplies, other than those provided, a Requisi on Form must be filled out and processed before supplies can be ordered. Requisi ons must be filled out and turned in to the Adult Career Center Director or Supervisor for approval. Requisi ons for Career Enhancement classes must be turned in before the first class session. Requisi ons for Job Training Courses need to be turned in at least one month before supplies run out. COLLECTION OF FEES AND REFUNDS All fee collec ons and refunds will be handled by the Adult Career Center office staff. Any student who is not on the roster and does not have a paid in full receipt should be sent to the front desk to register and pay for the class before a ending the first class session. BUILDING RULES All classes held in the Lorain County JVS must operate in accordance with building rules as set forth by the Board of Educa on and Administra on. The general opera onal procedures which would apply includes the following: The instructor will pick up a key in the Adult Career Center office to open and close the classroom area each evening. He/she shall be responsible for locking the facility, securing the equipment, ex nguishing the lights at the end of the class period, and returning the key. The instructor should report any damage to the room and/or equipment to the Director or Supervisor as soon as possible. Loss or deliberate breakage of tools by a student must be paid for by the student. If the instructor rearranges any furniture or equipment, it should be replaced to its original posi on before the instructor leaves for the evening. When the adult instructor leaves the room at the conclusion of the class, it should be certain that: Windows and doors are closed and locked. All tools and supplies are put back where they belong. Lights are turned off. Shop or room is clean. Equipment used during any class session is to be cleaned and placed back where it was found at the start of the period. Chalkboards and dry erase boards should be erased at the end of each class session if it has been used. All adult students will be responsible for the cleanliness of the shop areas a er use. Each instructor will designate clean-up procedures and students will be required to par cipate in clean up. Clean-up me must be scheduled at the end of each session but within allo ed class period. Food and drinks are to be consumed only in the Quarry Room by the vending machines. No student should be permi ed in the lab area before class begins. Students are not to be working in the lab areas unless the instructor is present. Breaks are at the discre on of the instructor, but we suggest one 15-minute break at the midpoint of a class session. Students and instructors should take their breaks in the Quarry Room. All injuries shall be reported to the office area. We will have available an accident form for major injury. The Adult Career Center needs to be kept informed of all that may lead to any type of legal situa on. First aid kits are provided in all lab areas, as well as in the office area. Use Accident Inves ga on Report form for repor ng all injuries. See sample page 51 full Instructor’s Handbook. Emergency exit procedure. Posted in each room is the route to be followed to leave the building in case of an emergency. Please follow those direcons. If there are no direc ons available, please use the nearest exit. 5
