Discovering Scientists
The New Hampshire Academy of Science (NHAS) and Crossroads Academy have implemented a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Certificate to acknowledge Crossroads’ student achievements in STEM. Students completing the NHAS and Crossroads requirements to earn a STEM Certificate will receive recognition at their eighth grade graduation, and documentation on their transcript.

STEM Certificate for Middle School Students

Crossroads’ STEM Track students learn directly from NHAS professional scientists through experiments in the NHAS labs, producing a capstone project, completed by submission of a standard research paper to be reviewed by Crossroads’ faculty and NHAS scientists. STEM track students simultaneously receive a well-rounded and fulfilling Middle School STEM education, enhanced with math and science extracurricular and leadership activities, under the supervision of Crossroads’ math and science faculty. NHAS professional scientists and Crossroads’ faculty collaborate to support students to achieve all STEM Certificate requirements. These students ultimately graduate with a STEM Certificate from Crossroads Academy.

Nurturing Habitual Readers
In order to fully comprehend our Core Knowledge units, students are taught the fundamentals of reading and research early on. Our library holds over 12,000 books for kindergartners through eighth grade students. Students spend time in the library each week. Attached to our library is what we call the Lego Room. Here, our younger students enjoy creating masterpieces
Lego wall or may use the space for group reading projects.

NH ELEMENTARY ART EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR 2020–2021!
Tina Nadeau has been teaching art at Crossroads since 2017. “It is my responsibility to guide young minds into the future.” By doing so, Mrs. Nadeau hopes her students become both the guardians and ambassadors of culture by reflecting, preserving, and recording experiences through art.

Shaping Young Musicians and Performers
Musicians
Whether in music class, strings lessons, or chorus ensemble practice, students at Crossroads are exposed to a wide variety of techniques and skills. Students in first and second grade are introduced to the violin with weekly strings lessons. Once in third, fourth, and fifth grade, students will advance to the string ensemble group or choose to be a member of the chorus ensemble. Students take part in a variety of formal and informal performances each year.

Performers
Crossroads also develops well-rounded students who can speak and perform on stage. In Lower School, students participate in yearly performances culminating in fifth grade when students perform in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. In Middle School, every student in sixth, seventh, and eighth grade participate in the school’s musical theater production. Students may audition for on-stage roles or choose to be a part of the technical crew. Auditions happen in the fall, and students spend the school year preparing for the spring show!

These programs are in addition to the Crossroads Academy Core Knowledge Sequence and Core Virtues Curriculum. To learn more about grade-level classroom learning, visit www.crossroadsacademy.org/academics or read through our Incredible Beginnings, Enriching Opportunities, or Building for Success viewbooks.
Crossroads Academy proudly offers co-curricular options in addition to each student’s core classroom learning experience. Our full and rich curriculum expands across all subject matters, including language arts, history, advanced math, world languages, science, and more! Crossroads offers each student a chance to understand in new and unique ways.
Building Ar tists at Crossroads
The visual arts program at Crossroads allows students to explore their creativity while linking projects to timely academic units in their core classes. This provides a perfect blending of historical context and a stronger understanding of ideas and methods for student artwork.

Health
Health class is offered to students in sixth through eighth grade. In class, students learn about living healthy lifestyles, the importance of taking good care of our bodies through diet and exercise, and about mental health. It is a time for students to ask questions and grow in their confidence as young adolescents.
