THE STAFF SPOTLIGHT 19

Weston Corey

Associate Lighting Designer What got you started in Theatre? I can 100% credit my mother to my start in theatre. I have always been a mechanical minded person and hands on learner, and my mother knew that about me. My church, back in Virginia, does a large scale Broadway style Christmas production every year and she volunteered me to work on the tech team backstage at the age of 13. I did a few days in the shop with the carpenters and then found myself working with the lighting team, and that was it. My passion for design and theater grew from there and I would continue working in theatre through high school and then continued on to get a BFA in Lighting Design from Virginia Commonwealth University in the Spring of 2016.
