The typical idea of a territory is a boundary of a figurative line that encloses the landscape of an area. In every territory, there are multiple hyperobjects that come into play with the environment through multiple sources. The hypersite does not follow the traditional figurative line. Therefore, the hypersite is an endless volume of space, almost like liquids spatially interacting with one another.

This interaction is what blurs the line of boundaries. These hyperobjects interact with each other in fluidic manners in landscapes and environments, or a geofluidic landscape. They are forever trying to approach equilibrium in space and through that are intersecting multiple hypersites and hyperboundaries.

A network of nodes are determined from the direct overlapping of hyperobjects effecting living migrations. Two nodes are marine geotextile infrastructures and two are land geotextile infrastructures.

Hyperobjects react to each other in a fluidic manner, which can be broken down into three major categories:

• Aergeofluidic is hyperobjects intersecting hyperboundaries through the air or atmosphere, like nuclear power plant explosions, air pollution and light pollution.

• Aeoliangeofluidic is hyperobjects intersecting hyperboundaries through the action of wind forces, such as dust storms.

• Aquageofluidic is hyperobjects that is intersecting hyperboundaries through the water and/or the action of the ocean currents, like noise pollution, water pollution and oil spills.

Hyperobjects overlap each other creating an endless volume of hyperspace, or migration patterns. Turtle migration patterns also inhabit the Gulf of Mexico, which is high in oil pollution and light pollution. Light pollution is a direct effect of the species reproducing because the female sea turtles will not go on land to lay their eggs if there is light in the area.

10 Gulf of Mexico Geofluidic Hyperzone: Hyperzone Clusters of Aquatic Geotextile Infrastructures The hyperinfrastructure is broken down into multiple parts: Interior geotexile marine habitats focus on regenerating the ecosystem in the Gulf of Mexico.

Exterior regions of the clusters that are along the surface of the water filter out the oil pollution in the oceans’ waters.

The bio-regenerating geotextile infrastructure has two main components, which are the artificial geology and the infrastructure. The artificial geology has ecological micro-habitats, which are based off of the depth of the location of the pod inserted in the flexible geotextile infrastructure.

Different depths create spaces that accommodate to different ecology, while providing a ‘foundation’ of growth of algae and vegetation. Certain marine life activates different depths of the ocean, where the infrastructure recreates these depths.

Each zone has a different geotextile that is specific to the habitat dwelling within it. Marine life is provided to the area to make it bio-regenerating.

The geotextile is flexible and can react to exterior forces like wind and wave forces. Based on the geometry of the flexible structure, there are many possibilities of arrangement and composition to adjust to the specific region of the location of the infrastructure.

Pelamis tubes use the motion of the waves on the surface of the water to extract energy. It is made up of sections that bend to the motion, creating electricity.

The electricity absorbed is used to make the geotextile hyperinfrastructure self-sufficient.

Ballasts contain air that is adjusted through an air compressor by the pelamis tubes. Water collectors collect natural rain fall that is stored below and connected to water sprinklers that are located in the grass pods. Sensors detect if moisture is needed in the micro-habitats and will water the regions. Bacteria containers hold bacteria that is released when there is an oil spill through the bacteria sprinklers that are located in the water. Weir skimmers are used by waves passing through the skimmer and it collecting any oil in the water, purifying and filtering the ocean’s waves.

SPRING 2014 | SHANGHAI, CHINA

Knockoffs are objects and ideas that are copied, mimicked and replicated. Theses ideas are used in objects like computers and cell phones, designer bags and clothing and also architecture. Ideas are taken from theories and history and used for present buildings and theories.

Walking City is a design concept by Archigram of mobile robotic structures roaming freely. That concept can be knocked off by replicating the Walking City and introducing it in a practical setting. Robotic forms are brought into a strict grid line up of forms. There are a series of robotic forms that first start off settled in the ground and then exploding through the perimeter wall of the strict grid. Overall, the robotic forms appear as if they are breaking through the grid, creating a path of destruction.

TOKYO FASHION MUSEUM

FALL 2013 | TOKYO, JAPAN

Tokyo Fashion Museum is located in the fashion district of downtown Tokyo, Japan. The fashion museum is a narrow skyscraper that displays fashion from Japan during the 1920’s to the 2010’s.

Two floors are set up for fashion shows, each with a runway that protrudes from the strict square box floor plate. The building is lifted from the street level, underneath is a topological terrace surface that allows for the public to gather and enjoy the TV screens that are located underneath the first level. TV screens are also located on the core of the building, which promotes advertisement and streams the fashion shows held in the building.

FALL 2012 | SALTON SEA, CALIFORNIA

Developing a series of diagrams to understand the spatial representation of a cathedral plan being broken down into multiple parts of overlap of circles and squares, spaces of rectangular geometries, and isosceles triangles producing connections by radii. These repeated geometries are taken to produce a three dimensional module system that is repeated as well.

The final product creates multiple interior envelopes by allowing the system to have a series of system of enclosures. The skin of the facade consists of a series of punctures that allow for sunlight to enter the first enclosure. As seen in the section, there are areas that can view out to these interior lit spaces and areas that are completely cut off from sunlight.

This is what creates the geometric nucleus of interior volumes of space.

FALL 2011 | GLENS FALLS, NEW YORK

The performance of the painting The Discovery of the True Cross has geometric transition between human figures’ movement. The movement translates a central composition producing an orbital and rotational space. It turns around a fixed focal point producing regular and uniform variation to a sequence. The materiality of the motion of the human figures creates a space of planar surfaces. The surfaces bend and curve producing deformation or folds by tension, which are stretched and loose, therefore lacking a sense of restraint.

There are three repeated base modules that come together representing a splitting and weaving affect, which the oblique windows, splitting walls and floor plates demonstrate. Not only do the modules create rotation and orbital composition in the structure, but so do the oblique windows that wrap around the entire structure.

LINEAR ALTERATIONS

SPRING 2012| TROY, NEW YORK

Making an analysis of Paul Rudolph’s Milam Residence, one can start to analyze the shifts of volumes of patterns produced from the rotation of the Earth around the Sun. The back facade of the house is make up of a framework that is independent from the structure of the home, not clearly representing the inside versus outside relationship. Rudolph believed in developing a fundamental rule set for the design to develop the system of the architecture.

Taking this analysis and this theories, Linear Alterations is created; a residential apartment complex in Troy, New York. The exterior facade is created by the repetition of the module. It is shifted, adjusted and altered to create the pockets of space used for balconies. The modules create a longitudinal plan for each apartment space. Every room and area in each apartment represent this concept. The modules shift upwards and downwards developing multi-levels in the apartment complex as well as each individual apartment having different level areas. This creates more private and public spaces based on the level change. Rooms open to below produce public spaces below and private spaces above.

SECTION

A project on Mars makes you think about other environmental problems that are different when compared to Earth. There are other factors that need to be considered that make cause architectural and engineering alterations. The two main environmental factors focused on where oxygen intake and gravity difference.

Oxygen was achieved by the structural system and having a dual purpose by transferring this element.

Other elements can be transferred such as heat and air condition because of the huge range in temperature at Mars. Steep slopes within the floor plates make it easy to travel upon based on the less intensity of gravity.

This project blends architecture into the landscape based off the dune’s formation. The structural system made it so external factors do not harm the structure by mimicking how sand dunes are constructed.
