01 . PROJECT BRIEF

PROJECT BRIEF Is one's destiny determined by God or is it determined by oneself? I believe that destiny is determined by myself, and my destiny has always unfolded according to the rhythm I imagined., from worshipping the gods and praying for blessings to Western astrology and praying for the past to change the future, feng shui is now a popular topic. How much do we know about it?

Feng Shui

FENG SHUI Feng shui also known as Chinese geomancy, is an ancient Chinese traditional practice which claims to use energy forces to harmonize individuals with their surrounding environment. The term feng shui means, literally, "wind-water". From ancient times, landscapes and bodies of water were thought to direct the flow of the universal Qi – “cosmic current” or energy – through places and structures. Because Qi has the same patterns as wind and water, a specialist who understands them can affect these flows to improve wealth, happiness, long life, and family;

Origins As of 2013, the Yangshao and Hongshan cultures provide the earliest known evidence for the use of feng shui. Until the invention of the magnetic compass, feng shui relied on astronomy to find correlations between humans and the universe.

03 . Concept Development

Concept Map

Concept Research I have often heard many people in the jianghu world recite phrases like Green Dragon on the left, White Tiger on the right, Vermilion Bird in front and Xuanwu at the back. In Feng Shui, the four divine beasts are the Green Dragon in the east, the Vermilion Bird in the south, the White Tiger in the west and the Xuanwu in the north. They represent the 28 stars in the four directions of the Feng Shui layout.

Green Dragon position represents power, fame, fortune, happiness, nobility, career, masculinity, man, etc. White Tiger position represents women, villains, femininity, blood, injury, and foul play. Vermilion bird refers to the space in front of the house and represents wealth and business. Xuanwu Mountain refers to the space behind the house and represents people, health, nobility, elders, etc. Figure Hong Kong Map

The Yellow Emperor of China claimed to be an incarnation of the dragon, but of course this is only a myth. Feng Shui was one of the earliest ancient sciences in China, and many historical documents record that the graves of emperors were searched by many Feng Shui masters.

Concept development

My design is based on the feng shui theory of the Green Dragon, which represents the seven eastern stars of the 28 stars in the Eight Seals chart, and is drawn in the shape of a research image to create a dragon pattern.

05 . Design Proposal

Floor Plan

Section Plan

MARBLE

Reception

CONCRETE

WALLPAPE

The reception area is decorated with Chinese furniture and feng shui decorative objects, and western materials such as square rough concrete blocks and yellow marble, which are not only unique but also create a sense of old and new. The yellow dragon wallpaper is placed in the reception area to give the customer a first point of contact and an eye catcher.

WHITE MARBLE

Worship shop

GREEN MARBLE

In the worship of the feng shui hall, I chose white and green marble to give it a tranquil feel that is distinctly different from other areas.

MARBLE

Souvenir shop

MOSAIC

BOARD

The souvenir area is designed with plasterboard as a feature wall, adding dragon lines to the feature wall with Chinese feature cabinets in red and yellow, I wanted to emphasise that feng shui is a strong oriental culture. The flooring is yellow marble with lime green mosaics to emphasise the luxury feel.

Future area

The future area is the centre of the Feng Shui Hall and my main design is a large flying dragon plank which is passed by every room, this design is taken from the myth of the flying dragon in the sky and means that everyone who visits the Hall will be able to change their fortune and go farther and become richer.

At the centre of the path I placed my dragon marker for people to take pictures. Lastly, the dragon wall is made of bamboo and new materials, which can be illuminated at night to reveal the shape of the dragon. It is a unique piece of art.

WOOD

Exhibition area

In the exhibition area I have placed two large wooden Chinese frames, with the special feature of my own design of a dragon pattern between two strips of wood, giving a particularly simple yet ornate decoration. The shadows of the dragons in the sunlight are particularly mysterious.

MARBLE

Drinking area

BOARD

The drinking area is the place where people spend most of their time. As the location is the Green Dragon position, the five elements in the east are wood and feng shui says that wood produces fire and the colour of fire is red, so I used red plasterboard and feng shui layout with yin and yang design and decorations to benefit people and increase wealth.

06 . Material & Detail

New Material Feng Shui Hall is the place is closely linked, presenting a new and old area that creates a strong sense of place for visitors. As the feng shui hall is designed with the 'dragon' in mind. The whole design expresses the 'dragon' in different forms and creates different visual effects. The square shape of the historic building also contrasts strongly with the changing shape of the "dragon". Together with the location being outdoor without a roof, there is no light at night Due to the above reasons.I needed a material that could transmit light and glow in the night while still moving with the wind. To meet the needs of this theme, after much deliberation, I thought bamboo, Resinous, Strontium aluminate and wire would be a good choice.Bamboo is used as my main material. Although crystal glue is not classified as a mainstream material at the moment , I still think it would be interesting and inspiring to look at crystal glue as a material.

Material area

Material & Detail

The dragon design will span each room in the air, but will only be suspended in the beams without any damage, and the design is made of wooden panels.

The dragon landmarks are made of wooden panels and are placed in stone with iron supports
