Information Alert Bobby Aikin: Celebration of Life It is with a heavy heart that we report Alexander Mack “Bobby” Aikin, III, The Aikin Group, has passed away at the age of 65. Prior to starting The Aikin Group in 1993, Bob served as a State Representative in the Texas House and as a member of the State Board of Education. In 2009, Bobby began hosting KETR’s Breakdown with Bob Aikin, a weekly segment in which he would ‘break down” the latest news or trending topics. “Bobby was a true friend, supporter and advocate for the school districts and school children of Texas,” said Wayne Pierce, Executive Director of the Equity Center. “As a member of the Legislature and State Board of Education, Bobby strived to be a part of the solution to school finance and he worked tirelessly to accomplish this goal. What was best for all the children of Texas was always front and center for Bobby.” A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sunday, June 17 from 3-5 p.m. at the Sam Rayburn Student Center on the campus of A&M Commerce. Friends are invited to “share stories and memories, and a toast to Bob’s life.” The celebration will be an informal gathering meant to give all in attendance an opportunity to recount and enjoy stories from his incredible life. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to commemorate him may do so by making a generous contribution to the charity of your choice. The Sam Rayburn Student Center is located at 2600 S. Neal Street in Commerce. Hotel accommodations can be made through the Hotel Azul at 903-886-4777 and mentioning the Aikin service.
