We thank God for Rev. Dr. Paul Thompson who joined EquipKVBC recently as Academic Dean for our Diploma and Degree programme.
Paul met his Malaysian wife, Yu Li, at Oak Hill College in London. After many years in church ministry, he engaged in further study and concluded a PhD on Pauline slavery from Union School of Theology and Chester University in 2021.
Paul is passionate about training church leaders for biblical ministry in Malaysia. Our theology, what we know and understand of God, is always at the centre of why we do what we do. The Bible is our source, the gospel of Jesus Christ our motivation, and we pray for the Spirit to empower our efforts to transform lives for God’s glory.

Church history teaches that the church in a decade or two will only be as strong (or as weak) as its seminaries today. Investing in seminaries today builds the church of tomorrow.
Since 2016, Equip has also been offering an MDiv degree in partnership with Malaysia Bible Seminary (who also provides ATA accreditation). Equip’s goal is to offer Malaysian students the same high-quality training at home (with no disruption and expense of relocating) that they can gain overseas. Until recently, however, a shortage of faculty has limited the number of degree subjects we can teach each year.
So we are now overjoyed to publicise our newly revised MDiv programme, designed to be taught over three years full-time or six years part-time. Already, we have increased the number of subjects we are teaching this year by 50% to enable our latest intake to complete their first-year syllabus. In 2024, we will teach 50% more subjects so that the 2023 intake can continue with their second-year syllabus and the 2024 intake also complete theirs. We plan a similar increase in 2025 to complete the programme. God willing, by the end of 2025, we will begin to have an annual batch of graduating students: thoroughly equipped by three years of fulltime (or six if part-time) study to teach the Apostle’s unchanging message to others.

Pray for the launch of our revised four-year BTh programme later this year. While the accreditation requirements limit MDiv entry to those with a previous degree, we intend the BTh final year to be equivalent to the MDiv final year. We have already re-designed our existing Diploma programme to exceed the first year of the new BTh.
Pray to Lord of the Harvest to raise up many new workers for the Malaysian harvest field (Matt 9:37–38).
