GLOSSARY Cage Een afgeschermde ruimte in het datacenter waarin een klant zijn IT-systemen kan plaatsen. // A shielded space within the data center in which a customer can place his IT systems.

Connectiviteit / Connectivity Het gemak waarmee verbindingen met andere netwerken of IT-systemen worden gemaakt. / De aansluitbaarheid van verschil­ lende IT-systemen van diverse leveranciers via netwerken. // The ease with which connections to other networks or IT systems are created. The connectivity options of different IT-systems from various suppliers via networks.

Cross connect Een rechtstreekse verbinding met een andere partij in het Equinix datacenter. // A direct connection to another party in the Equinix data center.

Dark Fiber De term die wordt gebruikt voor glasvezels waarop nog geen actieve apparatuur is aangesloten. De actieve apparatuur zorgt voor het transport van het dataverkeer door de glasvezel. Zonder de actieve apparatuur blijft de fiber dus letterlijk onbelicht (‘dark fiber’). In het Nederlands wordt ook wel de term ‘onbelichte glasvezel’ gebruikt. // The term used for glass fibre that has no active equipment connected to it.
