FOREWORD The year 2019 was again a very special year with many highlights. Verdi was awarded KWPN Horse of the Year and many of our approved stallions achieved great victories. Grandorado TN won the Youngster Cup at Neumünster 3* and he made his international debut at 1.55 level. Our stallions Poker de Mariposa and Chapper both became overall champion of the BWP stallion competition and Highway won the Dutch Championships for 7 year old horses. Moreover Opium JW van de Moerhoeve achieved a super 4th place in the finals for 4 years old horses at the World breeding championships at Lanaken with Willem Greve.

For Team Nijhof, the year 2019, was again a wonderful year with many top results for their horses. It was not only a super year with a record of coverings sold, but also our stallion collection has been extended with a group of well bred young stallions that have high expectations. More over Team Nijhof has obtained many good results with their stallions in sports and breeding. Here is a small review with the highlights of 2019.

CANTONA TN Best KWPN Foal Report Cantona TN is one of the new additions of Team Nijhof. This son of the world-class showjumper Codex One was a true eye catcher at the national shows as a 4-years-old and he has been approved by the KWPN with a score of 84.5 points.

Cantona TN gained a 9 for rideability, while his canter, reflexes, scope, attitude and talent as a showjumper were judged with an 8.5. His talent combined with his exceptional pedigree, Cantona TN seems to be a highly interesting new stallion at the stud.

Cantona TN is a son of the Caretano-daughter Claudia Z, who already produced another two approved stallions. Claudia’s dam is the famous mare Larthago. This daughter of Carthago successfully jumped at 1.50m with Matthijs van Asten and is nowadays known as one of the best broodmares of Europe. Larthago produced no less than five approved stallions: the 1.50m-showjumper Cevin Z, the 8-yearsold 1.45m-jumper Dimitri Z (Kim Kristensen), the 6-years-old exceptionally talented Casago (Piergiorgio Bucci), Casago II and the famous Harley VDL, who performed at 1.55m-level with

In addition, several offspring of Larthago jump at international level: the 8-years-old Einstein at 1.45m level, Hopes are High Z at Grand Prix-level with Ruben Romp, Katharina Offel and Cara Raether, the 9-yearsold Soren Z at 1.60m-level with Kasey Ament, Heartbreaker-son Uncle Sam at 1.45m-level with Koen Leemans and Bruce Z at 1.40m-level with Day Keymolen.

Cantona TN has been approved by both the KWPN and Studbook Zangersheide and he seems to have all the qualities to match the performances of his highly successful relatives.

CELLO VD BISSCHOP Z

A pedigree to dream of

Cello vd Bisschop Z was one of the highlights of the BWP Stallion Show this year. The attractive grey stallion stood out with his powerful way of jumping, combined with a fantastic jumping technique and his stunning appearance. Cello’s pedigree is one to dream of: sire Cicero Z is currently one of world’s best producers of showjumpers and grandsire Stakkato has become a Hanoverian legend. However, the damline of Cello vd Bisschop Z is what makes his pedigree really special; the Cello’s pedigree goes back to the famous Usha van ‘t Roosakker.

Cello’s dam Mandy vd Bisschop is a daughter of the promising mare Josephine vd Bisschop. This daughter of the Grand Prix jumping Tornedo (by Darco) jumped at 1.45m level at a young age ridden by Italy’s Alberto Zorzi and nowadays Josephine is competed at international level by France’s Jeanne Sadran. In breeding, Josephine vd Bisschop already produced the BWP approved stallion Obus vd Bisschop.

Great-granddam Evita van ‘t Roosakker also produced a number of international showjumpers, including Isaac vd Bisschop ridden by Hansueli Sprunger and Jackson vd Bisschop ridden by Michael Hughes.

level with among others Marlon Zanotelli and Eiken Sato. In breeding, Usha became famous as dam of Cella (by Cento) of Ben Maher, who won individually silver and team gold at the European Championships in Herning. But also Equador and Emperio van ‘t Roosakker, who both jump at Grand Prix level with respectively Frédéric David and Alexandra Crown. This damline also produced famous showjumpers like Electra van ‘t Roosakker (Jos Lansink & Janika Sprunger), Falco van ‘t Roosakker (Jérôme Guéry), Erco van ‘t Roosakker (Lorenzo de Luca), Dulhan de la Roque (Reynald Angot) , Giorgio van ‘t Hagenhof (Quentin Judge), Happy Wandor van ‘t Roosakker (Carlos Ramirez) and many others.

CHAPEAU TN This future talent lives up to his name! The word chapeau is usually used to express appreciation or respect for an outstanding performance, and this BWP approved stallion delivers them time after time. With his powerful canter, scope and technique Chapeau is an excellent showjumping talent.

That’s no wonder when we take a closer look at his strong Holstein origins. Sire Clearway was successful in several Grand Prix with Lars Bak Andersen and produced top horses like Glock’s Cognac Champblanc, Clarimo ASK, Carella 5 and Corino.

Chapeau’s dam Vuttion VA is a half-sister of the 8 year old international 1.40m showjumper Cassons (s.Cassini II) of Alexander Hufenstuhl as well as multiple 1.30/1.35m jumpers.

Granddam Malva II is a half-sister of the Grand Prix stallion L’Eperon (s.Lord), who became

champion of Germany with Carsten-Otto Nagel in 1999. Malva II is also granddam of the KWPNapproved stallion Charisma (s.Stakkato), who performed on international 1.45m-level with Julia Kayser and is now sold to the United States.

Damsire is the international sport- and breeding stallion Quintero, who competed at three World Cup finals with Rolf-Göran Bengtsson and was victorious in multiple Grand Prix. His eldest offspring is already following in his footsteps, like the successful Grand Prix showjumpers Breitling LS, Quinto and Quibell 5.

This leading Holsteiner damline 1463 is known for its many international sport horses as well as approved stallions like Baldini I-II (s.Bachus), Carano (s.Capitol I), Lanciano (s.Landgraf I), Goodwill (s.Landgraf I) and Quality Time TN (s.Quantum).

CHAPPER Chapper is a interestingly bred, extremely talented 5-year-old stallion sired by the promising Cellestial son Chap II. In the Belgian Pavo Stallion Competition, Chapper stands out with his fantastic rideability, great canter, consistent way of jumping and unlimited scope. Sire Chap II is only just ten years old, but is already jumping at 1.60m-level with Germany’s Christoph Lanske.

Chap II’s sire Cellestial jumped at the highest level with Rolf-Göran Bengtsson and has proven to be a very valuable sire with numerous Grand Prix showjumpers out of a limited number of coverings. In addition, Chap II’s full brother Chap

I also competed at the highest level ridden by Pius Schwizer and Abdullah Al Sharbatly.

Chapper’s dam’s sire Asti Spumante was among Germany’s best combinations with Thomas Mühlbauer. In 2009, Asti Spumante had his career highlight; the Argentinus son contributed to a bronze team medal at the European Championship in Windsor and finished individually in fifth place. Chapper’s dam Pippilotta also proved herself in sport and jumped up to 1.40m-level.

Ridden by Rachel Steffen, the talented grey jumped clear in all competition rounds and became one of the champions of the competition. Classico TN is highly talented son of the world-famous sire Cornet Obolensky out of a Selle Français damline. At the Selle Français-stallion show, Classico TN showed off his exceptional jumping technique and reflexes. At the Westphalian stallion show he again caught the eye of many and gained his breeding license.

Sire Cornet Obolensky hardly needs any further explanation; ridden by Marco Kutscher, the son of Clinton x Heartbreaker jumped at the highest level and already from his first breeding years, a great number of offspring performed at Grand Prix level. Offspring such as Cornetto K (Alberto Zorzi), Clooney (Martin Fuchs), Cornet d’Amour (Daniel Deusser) and Coree (Gregory Wathelet) are without a doubt among world’s best horses of this moment.

Frou Frou’s pedigree goes back to the top sire Burggraaf, who is still of great influence today. Later on, Classico TN’s pedigree carries the genes of the Papillon Rouge-son Diamant Rouge II. Classico TN comes from a relatively small Selle Français-damline that produced a good number of international showjumpers.

Classico TN is closely related to the Grand Prix-showjumpers Reglisse Top of Colombia’s Pablo Meja Villa and Kaloe des Perrieres of France’s world-class rider Michel Robert. Kaloe des Perrieres pulled off some great results at international shows such as Cannes, Vejer de la Frontera, Montpelier, Madrid, Chantilly and Bordeaux. The Selle Français-approved stallion Oh Rantzau Pie V and the international showjumper Urlubalou du Batut (Pierre Cabochette) were also bred out of the same damline as Classico TN. Classico TN has a textbook jumping technique, excellent reflexes and lots of scope. This Westphalian approved stallion seems to have a bright future ahead of him.

Powerhouse Eldorado van de Zeshoek meets all the expectations in both sport and breeding.

Ridden by Willem Greve, the son of Clinton is currently among the best combinations in The Netherlands, making several Nations Cup appearances. In breeding, Eldorado van de Zeshoek is undoubtedly a foundation sire in the making, with already three KWPN approved sons, namely Grandorado TN, Grodino and Highway M TN. In addition, Eldorado van de Zeshoek’s dam Bijou Orai currently competes at 1.60m level with French rider Olivier Perreau. With the Olympic stallion Clinton as his sire and the highly successful Toulon as dam’s sire, Eldorado’s pedigree is more than outstanding.

At the beginning of 2015, Willem Greve took over the reins of Eldorado van de Zeshoek and immediately won the Grand Prix of Roosendaal. “Eldorado van de Zeshoek has unlimited scope and with his power he can jump all the classes in the world. Estoril du Cedre is born out of one of the best dam lines of France. His grand dam Briseis d’Helby produced four approved stallions and eight grand prix jumping horses, of which 3 have performed at 1.60 m. level. The most famous offspring of Briseis d’Helby is without a doubt the approved grand prix stallion, Quickly de Kreisker. This son of Diamant de Semilly and full brother to Estoril du Cedre’s mother Urganda de Kreisker, jumped at the highest possible level with his rider Abdelkebir Ouaddar, and for a while they were the number one of the world jumping ranking. Quickly de Kreisker won many international grand prix class and world cups at Al Ain, Sharjah, Paris, Rabat, Tetouan, Vejer de la Frontera, LeTouquet, Fontainebleau, Macon Laize, et cetera.

Estoril du Cedre is a direct son of the famous Selle Français-stallion Jarnac. Ridden by the Spanish rider Julia Arias, the stallion Jarnac participated in the European Championships of Madrid in 2011. In international breeding, his son, the anglo arab, Ryon d’Anzex has already produced many horses that can jump at the highest level. For example: Qurack de Falaise HDC (Kevin Staut & Delphine Perez), Reggae du Tillard (Julio Arias), Soprano de Grandry (Florian Angot), Uppercut Libellule (Dominique Hendrickx), Ulhane de Conde (Carlos Lopez), et cetera. Ryon d’Anzex himself participated in the World Equestrian Games of The Hague with Fernando Fourcade in 1994. Estoril du Cedre jumps with a lot of power and jumping ability.

For years there has been searched for stallions with ‘free’ bloodlines for dressage horse breeding. Not only in this context is this excellent Fontaine TN an asset, he also impresses with his qualities and health.

This Hanoverian bred eye-catcher has been approved for Westfalen and meets the genomic requirement of the KWPN thanks to a very high score of 105. His sire Finest was declared premium stallion and has already claimed remarkable results in the young horse competitions. The Fürstenball son is also making progress as a progenitor of dressage horses, as the successes of his offspring at inspections, auctions and under the saddle are outstanding. and granddam Gilette were declared Staatspremie-stute and Sky is a half-sister of the international Small Tour dressage horse Raptor 3 (by Rubin Royal) of Karen Böckmann. Granddam Gilette has also foaled two third level dressage horses. Damsire Samarant showed his qualities in the Small Tour under Andreas Helgstrand and has managed to be very valuable as a breeding stallion. The oldest descendants of this Sandro Hit son are performing on Grand Prix level, such as Salenga (Sarah Waldsperger), Sam Donnerhall (Anthony Astier) and Sir Simon 12 (Ulla Salzgeber). In the third generation we meet the Graf Grannus-son Ginsberg, who not only sired multiple international show jumpers but also the Grand Prix dressage horse Gringo of Sirpa Degerth-Kaldi. From this immediate family also descent approved stallions like Lividon GPF (s.Livaldon) and premium stallion Dream Maker (s.Damsey FRH). Team Nijhof has added another genetic masterpiece to their stallion collection. This son of For Pleasure is bred out of the mare Chacco’s Lued, a full sister of the famous jumping stallion Chacco’s Son. With his rider Maurice Tebbel, the stallion Chacco’s Son is one of the best jumpers in Germany and he participated in the European Championships at Gothenburg. One of the most impressive performances of Chacco’s Son was the phenomenal double clear round in the nations cup class at Aachen, that was a victory for Germany, also bgoth ecause of this super performance. For Chacco TN’s dam Chacco’s Lued also produced the Zangersheide and Oldenburg approved stallion Corydon T&L, who is jumping with Frederic Vernaet at international level. From this damline there are many international jumpers such as Mya Mercedes, Whoopy en Mylady Mercedes.

Sire For Pleasure was already one of the best of his generation in sports with his rider Lars Nieberg. With his rider Marcus Ehning, For Pleasure won a golden team medal at the Olympics. For Pleasure performed at the highest level for many years. But in breeding he has become one of the best of all times with his famous offspring, Fit For Fun (Luciana Diniz), Barron (Lucy Davis), Firth of Lorne (Marcus Ehning), Fora de Mariposa (Pénélope Leprévost) and many others.

After a successful sports career and a 3rd place at the Grand Prix of Aachen, damsire Chacco Blue unfortunately died too young. In breeding Chacco Blue is now one of the best of his generation and the absolute number one of the WBFSH Sire ranking for several years already. At the Westphalian Stallion Approval in 2018 For Chacco TN struck with his athletic ability, enormous scope, strong canter and imprint at the jump. He showed many similarities with father For Pleasure, but also with his famous uncle Chacco’s Son.

GRANDORADO TN All eyes are on Grandorado TN, being one of the greatest talents of the G-year of the KWPN. In the KWPN Performance Test the son of Eldorado van de Zeshoek earned 85.5 points and he was already described as a phenomenon. Top-level rider Willem Greve discovered many world-class horses in his career and bought a share of Grandorado too.

The son of Jazz takes in the 11th placing on the FEI World Ranking, was ranked 8th individually at the Olympic Games in Rio, won the golden team medal and individual bronze at the European Championships in Aachen. “His outstanding attitude has made the greatest difference at the highest level.

Even if he is almost unable to do something, Johnson will do it for you anyhow”, rider Hans Peter Minderhoud says about his number one horse. “When Johnson enters the ring, all people will sit up. This Krack C-son has established his name as a breeding stallion due to a high percentage of offspring that stands out in the sport as well as at the mare and stallion shows. Including the Dutch champion mare Brooklyn, champion stallion Bordeaux, who is meanwhile placed in several Grand Prix already, and the winner of the European gold medal for Young Riders TC Athene. Also international Grand Prix horses like Aquamarijn and MDH Avanti (U25) are sired by United, and a dozen Small Tour horses such as CSI, Donna-Ray and Bijou. United puts a stamp as a breeding stallion with his powerful moving progeny which have a lot of talent for piaffe and passage and excellent rideability. VERDI gold at the WEG and European team gold in his pocket, the 18-year-old Verdi is still going strong.

Besides his own performances, Verdi’s pedigree is also outstanding. Sire Quidam de Revel is one of the most influential sires of the past decades and the same goes for Verdi’s legendary grandsire Landgraf I. Verdi was bred out of the famous Holsteiner damline 747a, which also produced Calato, VDL Bubalu, Vingino and many more world-class showjumpers and stallions.

ZAMBESI The ‘new’ Heartbreaker with super rideability

Zambesi is the result of sport horse breeding with a vision. The legendary Heartbreaker, who is world-famous for his reflexes and attitude, was combined with Calvaro Z, who stood out due to his unlimited scope. Zambesi’s dam Calanda Z jumped at international level with Mathijs van Asten, while granddam Alanda performed at international level with Pieter Kersten.

Alanda is a daughter of Le Mexico and bred many top horses, such as It’s The Business (Geoff Glassard) and Galanda (Edwin Smits), who is again the dam to Now or Never (Piet Raijmakers).

As a youngster, Zambesi himself was already successful in showjumping: at the age of six he qualified for the finals at the World Championships in Lanaken and ridden by Sjaak Sleiderink he became three times second out of four competitions in the KWPN Stallion Competition, of which he won both the final and the overall standings in Den Bosch. Later on, Zambesi competed successfully at 1.45m level.

Many offspring of Zambesi jump at 1.40, 1.50 and 1.60 level succesfully now. Just like Zambesi himself, his offspring show reflexes, a great attitude and a lot of power.

Heartbreaker was crowned ‘KWPN Horse of the Year’ in 2016. He was already declared ‘Preferent’ in 2009 because of his successful offspring in the international scene. Heartbreaker himself was successful at Grand Prix level with Peter Geerink and is placed number 12 on the 2016 WBFSH-ranking for jumping sires. His influence in worldwide breeding is enormous. In the KWPN-studbook he has already 10 approved sons and 19 approved grandsons. In the international scene many of his offspring are competing at the highest level. One of the best this season was Bertram Allen’s Romanov II, who won four Grand Prix’ (Bordeaux, Dortmund, La Baule and Paris). When you order fresh or frozen semen from SWS Nijhof B.V. the general terms and conditions of the Dutch ‘Bond van Hengstenhouders’ in the Netherlands are applied.

Stud station SWS Nijhof B.V. accepts no liability whatsoever for damage, sickness or injury to people, animals, transportation or otherwise.

Mares are inseminated entirely at the cost and risk of the mare owner.

Semen must be ordered at least 24 hours before shipment.

The total costs for shipping and health certificates will be invoiced to the mare-owner together with the stud fee.

We are certified for the exportation of semen abroad (both fresh and frozen semen).

Please take into account that we need to organise health certificates with at least 30 hours notice.

At the first order of semen please send us a signed order by fax or email with the following information: 1. Name and address of the mare owner 2. Name and life number of the mare 3. Delivery date and address of the semen 4. Name of the stallion SWS Nijhof B.V. is not selling single straws, only pregnancies. Nonused straws must be returned to SWS Nijhof B.V. and will be owned by them always.

When stallions are away on a show, frozen semen is available. Or a change of stallion is another option.
