We never wanted memories, We only wanted you.

A million times we needed you, a million times we cried.

If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died. in life we loved you dearly, In death we love you still.

In our hearts you hold a place no one could ever fill.

If tears could build a stairway and heartache make a lane, We’d walk the path to heaven and bring you back again.

Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same.

But as God call us one by one, the chain will link again.

William’s Legacy To everything there is a season… A time to be born and a time to die. Ecclesiastes 3:12 William Gipson was born to the expanding union of the late Floyd Jefferson and Estella Gilbert Jefferson Gipson on October 7, 1930 in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. He was the first son and the third child of seven. William was an industrious young man and had a great work ethic. After his parents divorced, his mother remarried and he in appreciation and love for her new husband, Calvin “Tom Teacake” Gipson, changed his surname to Gipson.

In adulthood, William married Ruby Bailey and this union was blessed with a son, Willie. He later relocated to Texas and married Lula V. He became father to her six children. He retired as a cement finisher for the City of Dallas. He spent many fruitful years in Dallas and his home was always the “go to” place or the “stop” whenever any relatives or friends visited. There was always excitement, action like a good domino game, and great food at his home.

After Lula V.’s death, William returned to his roots and united with his home church, Holland Grove and was known throughout and around town as Uncle William, Mr. William, or as a dependable Taxi for those who were elderly or did not have a way or vehicle. Bill as he was fondly known believed in the value of hard work. He was a gentle, cool and quiet man who will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lula V., a brother, a niece, Johnnie L. Kelley, and two nephews Robert Earl and Timothy.

Those left to delight in a life well lived include a son: Willie; his siblings, Beatrice, Azzie Lee, Alberta ( Jessie), Rosia, Arcadia, LA; Robert (Dottie) Dallas/Arcadia, Elroy (Gwen) Detroit, MI; three other siblings by his father: Nathan, Sharon and Patrice his step children: Darryl (Barbara), Earl, Glenda, Rickey (Dorothy), Sandra and Velma Joyce all of Dallas, Texas; a special friend and caretaker Patsy Ann Williams, Arcadia, LA; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A life well lived, a race well run and a rest well earned!

Beyond Life’s Gateway “There is an open gate at the end of the road, Through which each must go alone.

And there in a light we cannot see, Our Father claims His own, Beyond the gate, your loved one Finds happiness and rest.

And there is comfort in the thought, That a loving God knows best.”
