DAILY REPORT 22nd MAY 2014
Global markets at a glance Asian shares and the Australian dollar rose on Thursday after an upbeat reading on China's factory sector blunted some of the more pessimistic views on the world's secondbiggest economy, supporting risk appetite already burnished by a strong session on Wall Street. European shares finished higher on Wednesday. The panEuropean FTSEurofirst 300 ended 0.6 percent higher at 1,364.76 points, just below last week's six-year peak. The index was helped by companies like Maersk and Germany's top utilities E.ON and RWE.
