EPHRAIM JAMES
Professional Statement:
I am an architecture graduate and visual artist, with an avid desire to create places for people to unite with one another. Goal-driven and project-oriented, I seek to join a team where I can share my knowledge as a creative artist and put my functional problem-solving skills toward achieving our common goals.
TABLE OF CONTENTS
Background:
Born and raised in Miami, FL, with Jamaican roots, I found an interest in architecture in part because of my background in visual arts and being a project-oriented individual. In addition, my admiration in sporting venues such as arenas, ballparks, stadiums, and recreational centers sparked an interest in studying the field.

Lemon City Natatorium
Comprehensive Design Studio - FALL 2022
Project Description: The concept was to form an aquatic lightwell with fluidity in motion by use of framing and angular configuration. This lightwell into the Olympic-sized swimming pool has an equal amount of comfortable space for both swimmers and spectators. This natatorium with its angled configuration is held up by a space framing roof that is shaped like the size of the lot. The roof itself has a translucency in the middle to create that lightwell effect.

Living Seawall Reef Structures
SPRING 2023 (in collaboration with Dillon Blanchard)
Project Description: Integrating tubular polyps into voronoi shells, a coastal living sea wall barrier for Maurice A. Ferre Park that serves as protection for native species as well as an interactive exhibit for the adjacent Perez Art Museum and Frost Science Museum. While the voronoi shells serve as protection that houses life and the backbone for each unit, the tubular polyps populate the shells to create intricate spaces for life. The outdoor space will serve to show the public how artificial coral reefs can be used as both an informative and art exhibition, highlighting the integration between art and science.

Savannah Infill Row Housing
SPRING 2022
Project Description: Adding to the continuation of Savannah’s rigid symmetry in both building mass and layout, my concept for my infill row housing project consists of a 4-story volume with shifted floor plates that offset at each level, creating an implied diagonal cut towards the garden. The overall shifting of the walls, and floor plates at various heights, creates a unity of both separation and coherence.

Peacock Park Aquatic Center
FALL 2021
Project Description: My proposed design concept is to give the community an aquatic center with as minimal enclosure as possible. The dramatic aerodynamic curving roof itself gives airflow throughout the venue and shades guests and the pools throughout the extreme hot climate.

Master THESIS (Work In Progress) - SPRING 2024
Project Description: My proposed multi-puropose sports, wellness and recreational center that primarily promotes physical and mental health for those occupying the space. The concept of this proposal is “active flow” as the design of the center’s exterior mimics the curvature gestures of the expressway. With the Jose Marti Basketball Park and Lot 11 Skate Park each being in close proximity, my proposal enhances these two recreational spaces to make it more family-friendly and community-oriented.
