Banyu Pinaruh, Mass Purificatory Rite and Turtle Hatchling Release housans of people dominated by students performed Banyu Pinaruh mass ritual named Baruna Astawa and the release of turtle hatchlings on Yeh Gangga Beach, Sudimara village, Tabanan, on Sunday (Aug. 20). The event initiated by the Daksa Dharma Sadhu Alliance (PDDS) was officiated over by five Brahmin priests and attended by Deputy Regent of Tabanan, I Komang Gede Sanjaya.

Second Opinions, Other people claim that the temple was built by Dang Hyang Nirartha, a pedanda (Hindu monk) from Daha Kingdom (Kediri) in East Java. Dang Hyang Nirartha came to Bali in 1546 AD, during the reign of Dalem Waturenggong. The monk built Uluwatu Temple on Pecatu Hill.

After completing a spiritual journey around Bali, the monk went back to Uluwatu Temple and died there. He moksa (died and his body vanished), leaving the Marcapada (worldly life) and entering Swargaloka (heaven). The Piodalan or ceremony commemorating the temple’s anniversary is held on Anggara Kasih day, in wuku Medangsia in Caka calendar. Usually the ceremony lasts for three days thronged by of thousands of Hindus. Uluwatu Temple sits on a 70-meter-high cliff protruding above Indonesian Ocean.

Because of its unique location, visitors to the temple have to take a long stone stairway to reach it. The temple heads east, unlike other Balinese temples which face west or south.

The atmosphere is indeed carried away by the flow of music under the concept maker and choreographer Kadek Wahyudita with music director I Wayan Pacet by involving about 20 creative young artists. The tones of singapraga gamelan music compose five spirits, namely Prana Yoga, Genta Hrdaya, Budi Satyam, Bhuana Semara and Prabawa Bhuana. Furthermore, prana yoga describes the figure of a sad king that observes his damaged nature presented through Legong Buwuk Dance by four female dancers.

In final session, the Padma Hrdaya performance is expressed through music (prabawa) without a dance. Turtles become more familiar on Penimbangan Beach ishermen coalesced into the Sari Segara Joint Business Group (KUB) have a lot of concern for the sustainability of the sea turtle population around Panimbangan Beach in Baktiseraga Village, Buleleng. This month alone, they they released hundreds of turtle hatchlings back onto the sea. Previously, on Saturday July 22nd , they released 73 turtle hatchlings. There were 93 eggs that they had been protecting but 20 of them did not hatch.

The eggs had been rescued from the dangers of the beach and kept in the breeding basin that the fishermen built with funds from donations. The fishermen are now caring for more than a thousand turtle eggs that had been rescued from the coast since May 2017.

Group Leader of Sari Segara, Putu Naca, said the turtle breeding on Penimbangan Beach has been running for a few months. The independent conservation effort is being done by local fishermen who are concerned about the turtles’ natural habitat. Due to the over-hunting of sea turtles, this beach has not seen turtles for some time. However, with the growing concern that the fishermen have shown for the turtles and their habitat, Penimbangan Beach is becoming known for its turtles. The rescue and release of turtles here is expected to contribute to a positive future for the sustainability of this natural turtle habitat.

“The combined efforts of our fishermen and other concerned parties have borne good results, as evidenced by the more than a thousand turtle eggs that we have saved and are waiting to see hatch. Some turtle hatchlings have already been released. We are still waiting for the eggs that have not hatched yet so that we can release them all”, he explained.

Amid the developing conservation efforts, the fishermen of this area have made the turtle the mascot of Penimbangan Beach and they plan to build a turtle statue at the entrance to the Beach. Warung Rangkung Lebih is located on the west of Lebih Beach and east of Bali Safari & Marine Park.

Beten Kelod hamlet, Keramas. In addition to offering vegetarian menus, this food stall also offers fish menu, so that between vegetarians and those who eat meat can eat together at the same place.

Usually the Mehndi day ceremony is followed by “Sangget” - an evening of lively Indian music, non-stop dancing and fun. The Wedding ceremony is conducted in a Mandap or pavilion decorated with colourful drapes and flowers at WakaGangga’s oceanfront Amphitheatre.

The Mandap structure has four pillars symbolizing four parents who raised their children until they are able to build their own family.

During the Hindu Wedding ceremony, the bride and groom accompanied by their parents repeat “mantra” – Hindu vedic prayers recited by the Priest in ancient Sanskrit language.

The main ritual requires the couple to be bound together by their respective scarves and walking around the holy fire (“Hawan Kund”) amidst chanting of mantras and flower petral shower by the family and friends of the couple.

Turtles become more familiar on Penimbangan Beach ishermen coalesced into the Sari Segara Joint Business Group (KUB) have a lot of concern for the sustainability of the sea turtle population around Panimbangan Beach in Baktiseraga Village, Buleleng. This month alone, they they released hundreds of turtle hatchlings back onto the sea. Previously, on Saturday July 22nd , they released 73 turtle hatchlings. There were 93 eggs that they had been protecting but 20 of them did not hatch.

The eggs had been rescued from the dangers of the beach and kept in the breeding basin that the fishermen built with funds from donations. The fishermen are now caring for more than a thousand turtle eggs that had been rescued from the coast since May 2017.

Group Leader of Sari Segara, Putu Naca, said the turtle breeding on Penimbangan Beach has been running for a few months. The independent conservation effort is being done by local fishermen who are concerned about the turtles’ natural habitat. Due to the over-hunting of sea turtles, this beach has not seen turtles for some time. However, with the growing concern that the fishermen have shown for the turtles and their habitat, Penimbangan Beach is becoming known for its turtles. The rescue and release of turtles here is expected to contribute to a positive future for the sustainability of this natural turtle habitat.

“The combined efforts of our fishermen and other concerned parties have borne good results, as evidenced by the more than a thousand turtle eggs that we have saved and are waiting to see hatch. Some turtle hatchlings have already been released. We are still waiting for the eggs that have not hatched yet so that we can release them all”, he explained.

Amid the developing conservation efforts, the fishermen of this area have made the turtle the mascot of Penimbangan Beach and they plan to build a turtle statue at the entrance to the Beach. Along with dolphins and coral reef, Buleleng is rapidly becoming known for its turtles and efforts to conserve their habitat which in turn will help to support the development of tourism in North Bali. “Civet is only digesting the skin of the coffee bean, while the beans remain intact and are still coated by the epidermis,” said Komang Suniati.

Let’s use this fact as one of the entrance to the contemporary condition of Ubud. The boards of Ubud Home Stay Associations (UHSA) had a discussion with me some time ago in the editorial office of Bali Post daily newspaper. It discussed about the contemporary condition of Ubud that is often complained by tourists and its own citizens.

Especially, it is related to the problem of traffic crowdedness. Traffic congestion occurs everywhere. Surely, there is a series of problems needing to be handled quickly and correctly. Such collaborative art composition reminds the audience to keep harmonizing the greatness of nature, so that it is not damaged.

The atmosphere is indeed carried away by the flow of music under the concept maker and choreographer Kadek Wahyudita with music director I Wayan Pacet by involving about 20 creative young artists. Moreover, the flexible movement of the dancers supported by costumes and flooring pattern looked so attractive and the right stage lighting made the art presentation really fascinating.

The tones of singapraga gamelan music compose five spirits, namely Prana Yoga, Genta Hrdaya, Budi Satyam, Bhuana Semara and Prabawa Bhuana. At first, it is filled with poetry reading explaining the great universe (the land) whose harmony is now being disrupted. Furthermore, prana yoga describes the figure of a sad king that observes his damaged nature presented through Legong Buwuk Dance by four female dancers.

There is an art show of love story (bhawa smara) featuring two male and female dancers, in the contemporary style dance.

In final session, the Padma Hrdaya performance is expressed through music (prabawa) without a dance. Combination of singapraga gamelan music is made with djembe, sitar, flute, tingklik, gong and singing. “In the context of this work, Padma Hrdaya is interpreted as an art offering that aims to invite us all to understand the world situation in a metaphysical perspective,” explained Wahyudita. According to Kayana, every time someone does a purificatory rite (melukat) here, it is believed to lead to better things according to the intent and purpose, including requesting financial abundance. “People wishing to do a purificatory rite here, they must first bathe down there, then a purification rite in the four spouts in the north and after that in the five spouts in the east” he said.

He added the Tirta Penglukatan Taman Campuan is believed to be able to cure all kinds of “nonmedical” diseases. This conviction came to him after his father was affected by a poison. After being given holy water from Taman Campuan, the toxins left his fathers body through the anus and he was able to make a full recovery.

People must bring along pejati and canang oblations.
