‘Peter Rabbit’ coming to big screen, James Corden in voice cast LOS ANGELES - British stars James Corden and Daisy Ridley will help to bring the classic children’s tales of “Peter Rabbit” to the big screen, Sony’s Columbia Pictures studios said on Monday. Corden, host of CBS’s “The Late Late Show,” will voice Peter Rabbit and actress Rose Byrne will voice a character named Bea in the live-

action CGI production directed by Will Gluck. The film is due to be released in April 2018. Announcement of the film coincides with the 150th anniversary of the birth of author Beatrix Potter, whose “The Tale of Peter Rabbit” was first published in 1902. It was followed by 23 stories of involving such characters as Mrs. Twiggy-Winkle,

Wonderful Indonesia Focus Group Discussion (1)

Synergize customary security and technology

GROWTH of tourism brings in serious side impacts on Bali. Aside from giving economic improvement, tourism has also created strategic issues in terms of population and security of Bali. This condition makes the efforts to escort Bali and its civilization increasingly difficult. Surely this condition will have an impact on conservation efforts of Bali as a safe and comfortable living space. Responding to this, specifically the Indonesian Hotel General Managers Association (IHGMA) in cooperation with the Bali Post Media Group held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Wonderful Indonesia to seek strategies and solutions for analyzing potential conflicts and formulating strategies to escort Bali. In this context, the local concepts

like the Tri Hita Karana (THK) or three causes of harmony, Trikaya Parisudha or three acts to be sanctified, karma phala or law of causal effect and manyama braya or brotherhood must be implemented well. With these concepts, the actualization of Bali would be definitely safe. This view was presented by Director of Vital Object Security of the Bali Police, I Made Ardhana, in the FGD

at Sovereign Hotel, Tuban, recently. Since not all of Balinese people understand the concepts mentioned above, there is no good and controlled synchronization between the social concept of Balinese Hindu and the social concept brought to Bali by migrant communities. The presence of migrants has now widely affected the social concept in Bali. Moreover, it could even be said to have begun blurring the social concept of Bali itself.

“This situation is more alarming when the social concept of migrants including travelers is boarded with the interests of individual or group. This can lead to social conflict in Bali,” he said. To that end, he considered it necessary to build a communication system and closer coordination between all the parties concerned with security in Bali, including internal communication system among the police personnel. He admitted that the Bali Police in cooperation with local governments especially in Badung has disseminated technical guidance to many hotels to carry out the hotel security management system (SMPH). Of the 111 hotels volunteering to be verified, only 44 hotels qualified for

the verification criteria. Chief of Kuta customary village, I Wayan Swarsa, conveyed that the government of Badung has installed hundreds of CCTV in public areas in Badung. This measure has given security protection directly to the public. Surely this must be poised with security (jaga baya) program as a form of innovation through the involvement of pecalang (customary security guard) in maintaining customary territories of Bali. Until these days, pecalang is still respected and trusted by people and travelers as part of the safeguarding of the Balinese customs. Continued to page 6 Synergize...
