JAKARTA - A man already on Indonesia’s most wanted list in connection with a suicide attack five months ago was the bomber who blew himself up in a packed church on Sunday, according to police. Ahmad Yosepa Hayat, 31 was sitting among the Bethel Injil Church congregation in central

Java’s Solo city during a service when he stood up and detonated a bomb strapped to his body,

wounding 27 people. “Fingerprint and DNA tests showed that the bomber is Hayat,” national police spokesman Anton Bachrul Alam told a press conference. “He is a member of Jemaah Ansharut Tauhid (JAT) in Cirebon.” JAT was founded by militant spiritual leader Abu Bakar Bashir,

who was jailed in June for 15 years for funding a terrorist group planning attacks against Westerners and political leaders. Hayat, born in Cirebon in western Java, accompanied a suicide bomber to an attack on a police mosque in that city in April which injured 30 people, Alam added.

JAKARTA - Minister of Culture and Tourism Jero Wacik ascertained that suicide bombing in Bethel Injil Sepuluh Church (GBIS) Kepunton, Solo, Central Java, did not affect the tourist arrivals to Bali. ”Foreign tourist visits to Bali remains in normal condition. So, the Solo bombing case had no impact,” affirmed Wacik in his press conference in Jakarta on Monday (Sep 26).

Wacik also revealed there were no reports on cancellation of tour packages. Even, added the Minister of Culture and Tourism, there was no surge of passengers or tourists leaving the city of Solo after the suicide bombing. “If wishing to see any worries about a case against the security, it can be observed at the airport whether there was an exodus,” said Wacik. He pointed out that when the first Bali bombing happened many tourists

left Bali, and it was the manifestation of their concern over the security circumstances. “Once the Solo bombing occurred, I immediately check the airport in Solo and I received the reports if the flight activities went on normally,” he explained. The minister also revealed that Solo case was unlikely to make foreign tourists to worry. Conversely, the matter of bombing seemed to have made tourists immune because the bombing could

happen everywhere. However, Wacik reminded that all parties should continue to alert and maintain the security so there would be no more such bombing cases. Additionally, he expected all parties not to lose orientation to work properly and do the work in accordance with the outlines. “The total number of tourist visit did not change. We expect within the next few months, our target could be achieved,” he said. (010)
