Kubica: Team choice based on potential

Sport

Timo Glock has admitted that he is concerned at not having completed a deal with Toyota for 2010. The Japanese manufacturer has been expected to take up its option on the German, which it still holds, for some time, but has yet to do so. Amid renewed speculation about Toyota’s long-term participation in F1, Glock is keen to get his future with the marque secured as soon as possible. “A little bit, yes,” said Glock when asked by AUTOSPORT about whether he is concerned not to have completed a deal. It is a bit of a worry at the moment and if you look at the situation with BMW - I think that all of the manufacturers are in a difficult situation. Everybody keeps the window open and you never know what is happening.” Glock added that he has been considering what alternatives are out there for discussions when his contract option expires. But his first choice is to remain at Toyota for a third season. “For me, it’s not an easy situation,” said Glock. “You have to look at what options you could have if it goes wrong. But hopefully everything goes as we planned it and I can stay at Toyota.” Teammate Jarno Trulli is looking increasingly unlikely to remain at Toyota next year, despite his willingness to take a pay-cut of what is understood to be around 50 percent. However, as Glock is on a relatively modest wage for an established F1 driver, his salary is unlikely to be such a stumbling block.

of the top seats already being locked out when he became free for 2010, there is still a good chance of him being in a winning car. “I hope that I will be in a competitive car next year,” said Kubica. “Most of the teams have already contracted drivers so there are not a lot of places to go. But there are a few opportunities that look promising for the future.” The 2008 Canadian Grand Prix winner added that he was in no hurry to commit himself to a deal, and that the development progress teams make in the coming races could play a key role. “I’m in the early stages of talking because it wasn’t long ago that we got the news of BMW stopping,” he said. “I’m not in a hurry.”

Robert Kubica says he is unconcerned by the prospect of joining a team for 2010 that has not won a race this year, as he closes on a move to Renault. Kubica is a free agent next year, following BMW’s decision to withdraw from Formula 1 at the end of the season. He insists that it is difficult to know which teams will be the strongest and claims the potential of the team he joins is more important. “Even if you are not on the pace straight away, if you are working with a good group you can move forward in winter testing,” said Kubica when asked by AUTOSPORT about whether he is concerned at the prospect of racing for a team that is not currently winning races. Nobody can guarantee a quick car, but you can have a guarantee of maximum effort and motivation.” “It’s difficult to judge which team will win races next year. You can have some idea because the teams that finish this year well would most probably have a good start to next season because the cars stay the same aerodynamically.” Kubica is confident that despite several

Ship’s crews at Nusa Penida carrying luggage of passengers to offshore after they arrive at Kusamba beach, Klungkung, Bali on Thursday, August 27. Crossing using speed boat still becomes an alternative for passengers that want to cross Nusa Penida because they think it’s more practical than Roro Ship that have big capacity and only cross one time per day. Yesterday, a traditional passenger boat sank off when crossing to Nusa Penida from Kusamba beach, Klungkung, killing nine people.

Mid-Eastern tourists to Bali increasing Antara

DENPASAR - The number of tourists from the Middle East to Bali has been increasing lately, and therefore the number of tourist guides to serve them also need to be increased especially those wellversed in matters relating to Islam. Many tourists from countries in

he Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Lebanon, and Syria, have come to the island paradise in increasing flocks, a tourist guide of Bali Made Kawiana said here Thursday. According to the Bali Tourism Agency, the number of tourists from the Middle East to Bali, has been increasing substantially, especially

in the early months of this year. Those who came to Bali in June 2009 for instance reached 481, while in June they totaled only 268, and now their total in the first semester of 2009 had reached 1,656. Efforts at further increasing the number of tourists coming to Bali particularly, and to Indonesia in general, may include convincing

the peoples in the Arab countries that Bali is also very suitable and attractive for the development of Islamic religious centers. The relations between Hindu and Islam in Bali had been growing harmoniously since the distant past, which is also a factor which may attract tourists to come to Bali, Made Kawi said.
